Out of Idle Curiosity: Have You Made a Purchase at the DnD Classics Webstore Over the Past 2+ Days?

Yep, the title of this post pretty much says it all:

Have you made a purchase at the DnD Classics store since it's launch on Tuesday?

If you did make a purchase, what did you buy and where you happy with the scan quality?

All I've grabbed so far myself was the free B1. It's a much cleaner scan than the scans of old, so I'm happy with it. I think Deities & Demi-Gods will be the next one up.

  1. Nope. But mainly because I'm old and have all the originals in question.

  2. I got B1, of course, and the quality is perfectly decent. I expect my next purchase will either be the U1-3 package or something else from the B series, even though I own the latter in print.

  3. I picked up all the freebies, just 'cause, y'know, FREE. It was interesting to finally see what a 4e character sheet looks like.

  4. after my old wishlist purchases - will buy some cheap second hand bx red and blue - still want cyclopedia and will wait and see. What i want is tomb of the lizard king (fave mid 80s), desert series - but will get all the original modules if anything to buy support wizards who i haven't got a product off since some forgotten early 90s box set rpg which players all thought was a hippie newage storytelling game (dont remember name never heard or seen or found online even).

  5. No.

I am happy that others now have the chance to grab them. This morning, I read a "modern gamer's" perspective, which I really enjoyed.

  6. Picked up B1 last night and Deities & Demigods. Next weekend I'm going to see if I can borrow my DMs original for a comparison, I believe he has the real first edition with the Melnebonian[?] deities that TSR was forced to remove

  7. No. I picked up the free B1 to compare to the scans of the original books I already own. Not worth re-buying.

  8. Not yet. They haven't put anything up I don't have, or want to have. Still, there are a few gaps I'd happily close with PDFs.

  9. Nope. I got B1 because it was free, but I tend to favor print options. I'm not going to purchase anything unless they make a POD option available.

  10. Nothing was really on my "must have now" list, so like a lot of others, I took advantage of the free B1 to check out the quality of the scan.

  11. I grabbed the freebies, both B1 and the three 4e ones.

  12. I got B1 of course, but I also got a copy of Moldvay Basic. My hard copy is old and well used. The scans are nice. I've heard they get fuzzy if you zoom in, but I haven't tried that and probably won't need to. I'll only make other purchases if I plan on running something, even if I have the hard copy. Having a pdf is handy, and these are well done.

  13. All the current freebies here, just cuz... Ya know... FREE!

Wondering about "B3 - Palace of the Silver Princess," and "Deities and Demigods" : Does Deities contan the Cthulu and Elric mythos? Does B3 contain "the Illusion of the Decapus" and the three-headed family images by Otus?

  14. I did get the free copy of B1, to see the quality of the scan. I'll probably be picking up some Birthright stuff if/when it becomes available, but I don't think there are any lacunae in my Greyhawk collection that can be filled there.

  15. I picked up Moldvay's Basic even though I have a couple originals. I printed it as both a full-size book and a digest-sized book. The full size looks great save some of the pictures turned out too dark, and the digest-size is still readable.

  16. I bought the D&D Basic Set Rulebook (red book with EO cover). It was the first RPG book I ever owned and it was stolen in University. Scan quality is excellent.

  17. Got a few of the free things and a PDF of Holmes and was happy with the quality.

  18. Downloaded B1. I am eyeballing the Ravenloft and Planescape books but need more disposable income to spend (recently went on a buying spree, so the timing was just off).

  19. Nothing so far. I'll probably buy some of the 4E stuff, depending on what they put up. And I'm hoping to get all the Forgotten Realms stuff for 3E. No interest at all in any of the pre 3E stuff.

  20. I'll be picking some up at some point. I got my B1 and I'm pretty happy with the quality.

  21. I got B1 for free.

Also, I picked up the Moldvay Basic Rulebook PDF even though I have two hard copies as its nice to have a copy in permanent good condition. Finally, I got B4 as the copy I have is missing some map pages. I may pick up some other old BX and AD&D modules, but haven't yet.

  22. Looked at everything, and my first thought was "Man are they asking a lot for PDFs". Remember, TSR, WotC and Hasbro have made their money back on these already. The cost to convert them to PDF is minimal, as is the hosting/internet fees. $1-$2 a PDF is all I would pay for them.
