Kickstarter - Cool Dice Bags...with dice inside!
I think I've mentioned this before but I really like dice. I also like dice bags but usually the ones I REALLY like are priced beyond my impulse buy price point and I usually just get plain old run of the mill dice bags.
Now, Cool Dice Bags...with dice inside! might be a silly name for a Kickstarter but it does convey what is being offered. Oh, and offered at a really attractive price, too.
These embroidered, 5" x 8" bags are 9 bucks a bag plus shipping. Back for 5 (like a certain bartender you might know) at 34 bucks plus 5 to ship. Did I mention there's a free dice set included with each bag?
I already know Rach wants the "Green Man" dice bag. I don't need to ask. Trust me.
I'll be traveling with style - maybe even in time for Gary Con ;)

Deal of the Day - WWII: Operation WhiteBox
Today's Deal of the Day at RPGNow is WWII: Operation WhiteBox. If you've ever been interested in mixing some modern warfare with your Swords & Wizardry rules, WWII: Operation WhiteBox is where you should be looking.
Normally priced at $7.99 for the PDF, you can grab your copy of WWII: Operation WhiteBox for $3.20 until 11 AM tomorrow morning.
The Print version is normally $17.99, its currently on sale for $9.99
In WWII: Operation WhiteBox, the player characters (PCs) play the role of WWII special forces operatives. They may be formally trained and part of an officially designated special forces unit such as the SAS or U.S. Army Airborne, or they may simply be guerilla fighters dedicated to making life hard for the German Army. They may also be covert agents working for organizations such as the SOE or OSS. Whatever their affiliation, their job is to complete missions behind enemy lines, paving the way for the next Allied advance.
- WWII: Operation WhiteBox is a standalone game that uses the Swords & Wizardry WhiteBox rules as its base. In addition to standard gameplay rules, the game contains the following:
- CHARGEN: This includes Attributes, Nationality, Rank, Profession, etc.
- NEW CLASSES: Eight new classes including the Charmer, Combat Engineer, Grunt, Maquis, Sniper, Tactician, Wheelman, Uberlaufer, each with their own unique abilities.
- GEAR AND WEAPONS: A list of typical WWII weapons and gear. Weapons are statistically grouped by function (Large Rifle, Small Handgun, Submachinegun, etc.) with some named examples to add flavor (M1 Garand, Derringer, MP40, etc.).
- PLAYING THE GAME: Rules for Saving Throws, Surprise, Reaction Rolls, Movement, etc.
- PERSONAL COMBAT: Rules for "theater of the mind" combat including new rules for automatic weapons, using cover and concealment, and explosives.
- VEHICLE COMBAT: Rules for "theater of the mind" vehicle combat (basically the same as personal combat) and vehicles grouped and statted out (Small Truck, Medium Tank, Small Aircraft, etc.) with named examples to add flavor (Kubelwagen, M4 Sherman, Brirish Spitfire, etc.).
- GAMEPLAY EXAMPLE: A gameplay write up to show some of the new concepts in action.
- COMMON NPCs AND ANIMALS: Stats and descriptions for civilians, soldiers, and common European animals.
- COVERT SPECIAL FORCES EQUIPMENT: Descriptions of some real world equipment designed and/or used by special forces during WWII.
- THE WWII CAMPAIGN: This chapter gives an overview of the different theaters, major events of the different time periods, and lots and lots of tips for running a WWII campaign.
- SPECIAL FORCES IN THE EUROPEAN THEATER: An overview of various Allied special forces units such as the SAS, LRDG, OSS, etc., resistance organizations such as the French Maquis and the Norwegian Milorg, an German special forces units such as the Brandenburgers. This chapter also runs down how to design a special forces mission as well as the different types of missions commonly undertaken.
- WWII TIMELINE: A chronological timeline of major WWII dates and events.
- HISTORIC WWII SPECIAL FORCES ACTIONS: Contains a brief description of real world historical missions undertaken by units like the British Commandos, Jedburghs, etc.
- RESISTANCE AT THE PONTEVILLE BRIDGE: A sample mission deep in Normandy.
- MASS COMBAT RULES: Quick and dirty rules for resolving Mass Combat as well as how to incorporate PC missions into the results.
- MINI-SETTINGS: Nazi Superscience, Nazi Occult, and Nazi Space elements to liven up your game!
That's a affiliate link above. Please, keep the taps flowing here at The Tavern :)

New (Old) Release - Shadows Over Bögenhafen: The Enemy Within Part 1 (WFRP 1e)
Consider me happy as a pig in shit. Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 1e is getting some love.
Now, back in the early days of roleplaying, we didn't have easy access to photocopiers and scanners. If there were player handouts that you intended to use, you literally cut them out of the book. Which is what I did with Shadows Over Bögenhafen The Enemy Within Part 1. Not a problem with a PDF. Just print out what you need.
This is a really clean scan of the original. There are bookmarks, but they are only for chapter headings, not the sub sections. No watermarking either.
Shadows Over Bögenhafen The Enemy Within Part 1 is $9.99 in PDF. I feel like I'm in high school again. Thanks Cubicle 7 ;)

Putting Together a List of Swords & Wizardry Light / Continual Light Releases - Add Yours in the Comments
Next weekend will be the two month anniversary of the release of Swords & Wizardry Continual Light. Swords & Wizardry Light released at Gamehole Con in November of 2016.
I know there have been a number of releases and blog postings with support material, variant rules and adventures for SWL / SWCL. I'm looking to put together a page to highlight all that material and I need your help.
In the comments below please add the releases that you know of (with links if possible) I'd like to get this together before the week is out.
Game on! :)
New Release / Mini Review - The Manor, Issue #9 (Swords & Wizardry Light)
I've been subscribing to +Gothridge Manor / Tim Shorts The Manor since the first issue. I've used bits and pieces in my campaigns over the years. Its really good stuff.
The Manor #9 isn't just good stuff. Its awesome stuff, and I'm not just saying that because its an issue dedicated to Swords & Wizardry Light. I'm saying it because it simply is true.
First we get 4 god specific take on the Cleric class. While only cover through 3rd level (or 4th, depending on how you look at it) its easy to extrapolate the full seven levels for Swords & Wizardry Continual Light. Well thought and and inspirational for others that might want to do similar for their own campaigns.
Next up is a listing and defining of new monster traits. Monster traits are what makes monsters different from each other and this is a damn solid list. Tim, I'll be stealing this.
Then we get the table set - well, random table that is - with detailed encounters. I've already got this pegged for use in my SWCL game that is restarting in January at the Farmingdale Library out on Long Island.
Last but certainly not least, Tim gives us the Crooked Man Tavern. Its a tavern meant to be placed in a local dungeon and its oozing with atmosphere. Besides, I'm partial to Taverns. Now, how do I place this in Barrowmaze for next month's festivities? ;)
Yes, it was a long wait for the current issue of The Manor but it was well worth the wait.
Five Tavern Steins for The Manor, Issue #9 (and no short pours either). The Manor #9 is $2.50 in PDF from RPGNow and $7 for print from Tim direct (Gothridge Manor)
(did I mention the art i by +Denis McCarthy ? more awesome ;)
