Far West - Soon to be SIX YEARS Late - You Won't Hear from Gareth Again until Delivery Time - Unless You Read his Daily Twitter Feed

Ah, Far West. Still no closer to completion. How do we know that? Because Gareth isn't updating the Kickstarter page until there is "something concrete to deliver."

Next month will put the project in the SIX FUCKING YEARS LATE category. I don't think ANY Kickstarter creator has outright lied to their backers about the state of their project as much as Gareth has. Six years is a lot of time to lie.

Which actually makes sense as to why Gareth is maintaining radio silence. Pretty much every update he's made over the past six years has been full of misstatements, falsehoods and outright lies. In order not to make new lies he needs to keep his virtual lips from moving.

I still think if Gareth could have figured out a way to write Far West at 140 characters a clip we'd have a completed project already. Oh course, it would have to be scraped off Twitter, which is where our friend seems to spend all of his waking hours these days.

Just think, all I have to show for my $150 is:

It was days away in May... of 2016

See, he never said what "year" this "June" was in.

    1. I specifically mention "state of the project". Ken lies with each breath he draws.

  3. Not to mention he's found the time to appear as a "special guest" at cons several times during that period. Is he running seminars on "How to Dodge KS Backers" at those or what?

  4. He is consumed by politics. Like other rpg creators that are out there, it permeates his very being and has stunted him from getting it done. I have nothing but negative views of him. Thank you Erik for your reporting on him and Ken and all the others.

    1. This is the awful garbage "art" that Skarka produced when the original artist got sick of his shit and left the project.

    2. Hey now! I paid $150 for those bright, red hands!

    3. The red hands are to distract opponents from his double-chin attack.

  6. There's no possible valid excuse for not having the pdf at least finished after six frigging years. My personal opinion (as an outside observer) is that he is deliberately not finishing it.

If he finishes the pdf, that starts the clock on delivering the physical rewards. I don't think he has the money to do this anymore (I believe he even admitted this in an update that Tenkar posted), and he burned his bridges with Cubicle 7 when they tried to help. Therefore, I expect the stalling on the pdf will continue indefinitely. Really, he can't afford NOT to stall.

  7. I’m still waiting for my Buckaroo Bonzai RPG I pre ordered about 4-5 years ago. Skarka is a piece of work. My first interaction with him was on the old M&M design forums where he shamed me for asking a question. I tried to feel sorry for him when he took ill, but he continues to soap box on social issues on Twitter. He seems to have aligned himself with the very SJW indie crowd. Don’t know how long before they call him out on his BS.

"Work" was a charitable choice of word to finish that sentence.

  8. I emailed him yesterday (as I do periodically when I am feeling glum about Far West) and he has promised some kind of deliverable by year's end.

I did remind him that he pledged to release whatever he had to backers in "as-is" form if it wasn't done by the time the ball dropped last New Year's Eve.

Let's hope I don't have another disappointing New Year's Day.

  9. There ought to be a way to have sort of scammers, permanently banned from starting any new kickstarters so he is not ripping off new marks.
