If Only All Publishers Were This Responsive to Criticism (Far Away Land)

A few days ago, in my initial post about Far Away Lands (which for some damn reason I always want to pluralize. Much like my constant substituting of "Time Shorts" for +Tim Shorts ;) I mentioned I had two minor criticisms.

1 - copy / paste was disabled in the Far Way Lands: Tome of Awesome

2 - the PDF lacked bookmarks.

Lo and behold, what do I see in my email this morning?

Now that is a boatload of Simian awesome :)

  3. Wow! If I had a dollar bill for every time I had to manually decrypt the pdf, remove the protection, and then manually add in useful bookmarks so I could actually use the damn thing for gaming... Well, I could probably buy a full set of 5e D&D hardbacks.

  5. I remember seeing this game when it Kickstarted and being incredibly tempted. But more and more I am intrigued by your posts. I will be purchasing this in print at some point.

  7. Classy indeed! Looks like a cool game...but the cost of the PDF seems a bit steep, don't you think? Opinions on that? I usually see the OSR world get up in arms for PDFs that cost more than $10-$15, so just curious what other people think.

    1. you can get the core rules for 8 bucks in PDF - so a bit steep but doable.

core in print is $25 and includes the PDF.

Tome of Awesome is $35 in print and includes core plus 3 supplements and the PDF - so ToA is the sweet point if you go print

    2. Ah, I see, the Tome of Awesome compiles the Core rules, plus the creatures book, and the companion rules in one bundle. So that's why the tome of awesome PDF is $25!

  11. The Tome of Awesomness should have included a couple of the low level modules instead of the companion rules which are like mini-games of themselves (I'm interested to hear how those play out) rather than actual rules for the core. In my humble opinion. That would have made it easier for beginners to jump right in.
