Kickstarter - Cool Dice Bags...with dice inside!

I think I've mentioned this before but I really like dice. I also like dice bags but usually the ones I REALLY like are priced beyond my impulse buy price point and I usually just get plain old run of the mill dice bags.

Now, Cool Dice Bags...with dice inside! might be a silly name for a Kickstarter but it does convey what is being offered. Oh, and offered at a really attractive price, too.

New (Old) Release - Shadows Over Bögenhafen: The Enemy Within Part 1 (WFRP 1e)

Consider me happy as a pig in shit. Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 1e is getting some love.

Now, back in the early days of roleplaying, we didn't have easy access to photocopiers and scanners. If there were player handouts that you intended to use, you literally cut them out of the book. Which is what I did with Shadows Over Bögenhafen The Enemy Within Part 1. Not a problem with a PDF. Just print out what you need.

This is a really clean scan of the original. There are bookmarks, but they are only for chapter headings, not the sub sections. No watermarking either.

Putting Together a List of Swords & Wizardry Light / Continual Light Releases - Add Yours in the Comments

Next weekend will be the two month anniversary of the release of Swords & Wizardry Continual Light. Swords & Wizardry Light released at Gamehole Con in November of 2016.

I know there have been a number of releases and blog postings with support material, variant rules and adventures for SWL / SWCL. I'm looking to put together a page to highlight all that material and I need your help.

New Release / Mini Review - The Manor, Issue #9 (Swords & Wizardry Light)

I've been subscribing to +Gothridge Manor / Tim Shorts The Manor since the first issue. I've used bits and pieces in my campaigns over the years. Its really good stuff.

The Manor #9 isn't just good stuff. Its awesome stuff, and I'm not just saying that because its an issue dedicated to Swords & Wizardry Light. I'm saying it because it simply is true.

First we get 4 god specific take on the Cleric class. While only cover through 3rd level (or 4th, depending on how you look at it) its easy to extrapolate the full seven levels for Swords & Wizardry Continual Light. Well thought and and inspirational for others that might want to do similar for their own campaigns.

Next up is a listing and defining of new monster traits. Monster traits are what makes monsters different from each other and this is a damn solid list. Tim, I'll be stealing this.

Then we get the table set - well, random table that is - with detailed encounters. I've already got this pegged for use in my SWCL game that is restarting in January at the Farmingdale Library out on Long Island.

Last but certainly not least, Tim gives us the Crooked Man Tavern. Its a tavern meant to be placed in a local dungeon and its oozing with atmosphere. Besides, I'm partial to Taverns. Now, how do I place this in Barrowmaze for next month's festivities? ;)

Kickstarter - Chain Breaker – RPG Dice

I like dice. I mean, I REALLY like dice. I have more dice then I could ever use in a lifetime and I'm still buying more. Dice with gimmicks are fun too. Chain Breaker RPG Dice? Definitely a gimmick. Personally, not sure how well it works.

Sure, the above looks kinda cool but has no place in a game.

So, how do you read them?

You don't count the chains but the spaces formed by the chains (or lack thereof)

To use the dice, the value for each side is how many parts that side is split into by the chain. In other words, count the empty spaces created by the chain – not the chain itself. 

The patterns of the chain on each side have been carefully chosen to make each an easily recognisable symbol so there is no need to count each time – just like the sides of normal dice. 

The blank side, with no chain through it, is worth one. Each of the eight different Chain Breaker colors feature their own unique artwork on the otherwise blank 'one' side.

Counting pips? Sure. Counting empty spaces that differ in size? Not so sure.

Yeah, I dont see this happening either. Probably for the best...

Guilty Pleasure - Van Helsing - The Apocalypse is Full of Vampires (and dying for an RPG sourcebook)

What a surprising guilty pleasure. I almost didn't make it through the 1st episode of Van Helsing - needlessly over the top gore. But here I am, 2 days and 12 episodes later and I'm really digging the series.

The first few episodes played out very much like an RPG session in my opinion (not trying to include spoilers) and would make a decent Convention Scenario (would need to include more immediate goals though). If I only grokked Savage Worlds better. Maybe I can hack something together for Swords & Wizardry Complete ;)

I like how we get some insight into both sides of the conflict. Not just our very flawed heroes but their adversaries, the vampires. Living among humans for centuries, a volcano plunging the west coast of the United States into a state of ash darkened skies has brought vampires to a position of strength. The politics behind the power players is an interesting subplot.

I'll save season 1 episode 13 for tomorrow - then onward to season 2 :)

Tavern Steins awarded - 4 out of 5. Better than the first season of Shannara Chronicles IMHO. I'll have to give my thoughts on that later.
