Bob World Builder is Mirroring WotC's D&D Survey - Take It Now!

WotC's recent D&D survey was over before most folks knew it was up. It appeared that they DIDN'T want people to even take it, and they didn't allow respondents to leave feedback, as most surveys from WotC ask for.

Well, Bob World Builder has essentially mirrored the survey, with the intent of sharing the results of the new BWB survey with the public in a few weeks when the survey ends.

Here's the link to Bob's D&D Survey:

Humble Bundle - RPG Book Bundle - 5th Edition MegaBundle: Gygax, Kobold, Friends & More

While I am not a huge fan of D&D 5e, I find it to be extremely simple to convert a 5e adventure to the OSR system of my choice. So if you offer me quality 5e adventures at a dirt cheap price, I'm all in.

With the 5th Edition MegaBundle: Gygax, Kobold, Friends & More RPG Bundle, I'm all in.

I have a few of these in OSR releases, but 25 bucks for nearly endless adventuring material is difficult to pass up :)

Humble Bundle - Return to the World of Dungeons & Dragons (Graphic Novels)

I remember when DC Comics published Dungeons & Dragons, Forgotten Realms, and Dragonlance comics. I bought them as I found them, and they were good, if popcorn, reading.

One of the latest bundles over at Humble Bundle is the Return to the World of Dungeons & Dragons Bundle, which appears to include some of the DC-era titles as well as later releases, including Baldur's Gate.

Damn it! I'm in at 18 bucks for the full collection. Popcorn reading for the win :)

Huge Discounts *some over 50%) on D&D 5e Books at Amazon - D&D Starter Set: Dragons of Stormwreck Isle 10 Bucks!

There are some huge discounts on D&D 5e books over at Amazon, some discounted AND priced at "get 3 books for the price of 2". If there are holes in your 5e collection, now is likely a good time to plug them.

Note, if you use The Tavern's Affiliate links, you are helping to support "The Bartender in the OSR".

I am VERY surprised to find the NEW D&D Starter Set: Dragons of Stormwreck Isle priced at 10 Bucks. At that price, I may buy copies for my niece and nephew and let them possibly find their own interest in RPGs ;)

Humble Bundle - Fantasy RPG Comics (Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder, and More)

I've been on a comic book kick recently. Not the new stuff which is priced at 3? 4? bucks per 32-page book, but stuff like The Sandman (classic Neil Gaiman) via Cosmicology Unlimited and classic 2000 AD (Judge Dredd and more) via an earlier Humble Bundle. I am seriously enjoying reading comics on my iPad. It almost seems like it was built for the purpose.

Now I have the opportunity to add 14 fantasy titles for15 bucks with the Fantasy RPG Comics Bundle at Humble Bundle. Between this and my audiobooks, my reading material is covered for months! Huzzah!

Explore the role-playing experience with this fantastic bundle of fantasy comics! Delve deeper into the characters and lore of your favorite settings in stories based on Dungeons & Dragons and Pathfinder. Discover a world where gaming sessions get all too real in the acclaimed horror-fantasy series Die. Follow the adventures of a band of mercs in the sword-and-sorcery send-up Skullkickers.

A fine-looking Mimic

The new trailer has been released for the upcoming Dungeons & Dragons movie starring Chris Pine. I am pleasantly surprised to say "it looks fun" and possibly even good. I know, go figure.

Here's the link to the video. Enjoy:

Dungeons & Dragons 100 Postcards: Archival Art from Every Edition Cards

I was messaged by a member of The Tavern's Community that they had purchased a set of D&D postcards on Amazon. I found it to be interesting, but then they sent me a few pics of their favorite postcards from the set. That's when I realized I was all in. I ordered the set yesterday and it arrived today.

This is just a small sample of the art in the Dungeons & Dragons 100 Postcards: Archival Art from Every Edition Cards boxed set. At 19.49 (free shipping with Prime) it comes to less than 20 cents a postcard. You get 2 full sets of 50, so you can mail out 50 postcards and still keep a full set for yourself ;)

I think I need to frame a few...

There's a New Dungeons & Dragons Survey from WotC - Some Folks are Getting an NDA with Extra Questions

There's a new D&D survey from WotC and it asks, among the basic questions, which editions you've played in the last 12 months and what other games you play.

So yes, it's an opportunity to let them get some information on old-school gaming.

Also, some folks are getting additional questions with an NDA attached. I'm not sure how enforceable that NDA would be, but there has been some pushback.

Humble Bundle Comics - New & Classic D&D by IDW Publishing

Through my early 30s, I was an avid comic book collector. When I stopped collecting (nearly 20 years ago), I stopped cold turkey. Now, I'm quite happy to buy comic book bundles to read on my iPad, as it no longer requires poly bagging and storage issues. It is simply so much easier. :)

The Humble Comics Bundle: New and Classic D&D by IDW Publishing has a large selection of D&D comic book titles. Most tempting for me personally are the Dragonlance titles. I don't think I have the patience to reread the original novels, but in comic book form on my table, I'm good to go. You can grab a bundle for as little as a buck.

Deal of the Day - Grand History of the Realms (Forgotten Realms D&D)

The Forgotten Realms can be a fetid mess to figure out as a timeline with all of the products released over the decades. Grand History of the Realms kinda solves that problem, at least through the 3.5 era.

Clocking in at 162 pages, I see this as a trip down memory lane from when I was waist-deep in Forgotten Realms fiction and source material

Normally 9.99 in PDF, until tomorrow morning the Grand History of the Realms can be had for only 4.99.

From the history:

What It Is. The Forgotten Realms is a huge and rambling place. That's no surprise, considering the number of authors and game designers who have added to the Realms over the past decades. At least in theory, all of these stories and events interlock into one cohesive world history (although admittedly sometimes better than others, depending on the extent of the authors and editors' Realms-lore).

With the quantity of products, however, it's often impractical for a single DM to understand the scope of a campaign's history or to understand what's happening at the same time elsewhere in the campaign world. Brian James made it possible by creating one massive and coherent timeline of the Forgotten Realms' published history, listing dates and events from every single Realms product published by TSR and Wizards of the Coast. The amount of work and attention to detail needed to pull this off somewhat boggles the mind, but the results are delightful for fans of the setting.

It's particularly effective to see this history collected in chronological order because the Realms' rich history has a variety of ways to count years in its calendar. There's Present Reckoning, Dalereckoning, Northreckoning, the Shou calendar, the Netheril Year, the Aryselmalyr calandar, and the Roll of Years (Year of the Cauldron, Year of the Bent Blade, Year of the Starving, and so on.) Tracking what happens at what time isn't easy for DMs who set their game there. This book solves that challenge neatly.
