Has Anyone Stated Out Humanoids as PC Races for Swords & Wizardry?

Inquiring minds want to know: has anyone stated out humanoids as PC races for Swords & Wizardry?

Pulling out some of my 2e Complete Handbooks last night got me thinking about the humanoid races. There are a handful that I think could work really well in S&W - or at least how I run it.

If no one has done such, I may just do my own and post them up here at the Tavern...

  1. I believe Conley did in his Majestic Wilderlands.

    1. I'll bet Rob has done it, even if it didn't find its way into the published Majestic Wilderlands materials.

  2. It's been done a number of times, but not really well curated or positioned for visibility. I can't point you in any particular direction for exactly that reason. Mostly as adjuncts to campaign settings, I think, rather than "here's a goblin race". So it'd be nice to see some made visible and "clean" (no campaign baggage).

  3. I personally love using race-as-class, so I combined most of the goblinoids into one class recently for my LL or B/X games.

  4. A few of the humanoid races made it in to my own "The Rising Dark" book for S&W Complete. Can't recall which ones at the moment, though. It seems like there are a lot of adaptations to different degrees for S&W (and LL, DCC and so forth) on rpgnow.

  5. I'm putting together a playable lizardfolk and need to post it up after a couple more edits.

  6. I did Rouge Modrons for a recent game, but I doubt that'd be helpful.

  7. I plan on making a version of the Dragonborn, and the Dragon class in Council of Wyrms box set that I just got in the mail today. Now it's just time to "invent" my little world more on paper and see how it goes.

  8. The Links to Wisdom collates a lot of them from various OSR blogs. It was a 'thing' a few years ago but seems pretty quiet now. I still find it a handy resource.

  9. While it's for LL, "In The Shadow of Mount Rotten" has stats for the main goblinoid races.

  10. Stoneheart Valley has half-orcs. Tome of Horrors Complete has half-ogres and one or two other playable races as well IIRC.

  11. Barrel Rider Games have released their Goblin-as-a-class for Labyrinth Lord today no less. I'm sure I saw one where you started off as a goblin and turned into a hobgoblin and bugbear as you leveled up recently - could well have been on +Dyson Logos' blog
