Tentative - Tavern Talk Live Call In Show - Test - 10 PM to 1030 PM Eastern Thursday May 25th.

Alright. I've done some research, so it SHOULD work in theory, just need to test how WELL it works in practice.

Thursday night at 10 PM Eastern we are going to do a test run of the Tavern Talk Live Call In Show via Facebook Live. I expect things to go all buggered, but that IS the point of a test.

Why Facebook and not Youtube? Because Youtube had some major hiccups when Zach and I were using that for the livecasts. Hell, in the end we might wind up using Youtube - thus the testing this Thursday Night.

I'll post the Google Voice number on Thursday before we start the test.

This is either going to rock hard or suck eggs ;)

Once the kinks work out we'll set a schedule and general topics. I'm figuring one 30 to 60 min show once a week, with alternate weeks being late evening and late morning my time. In any case, that's putting the horse before the cart. Need to see if the idea works on the technical level first...

For Those that Missed Monday Night's Tavern Talk Uncut, Here are Some Quick Swords & Wizardry Light Updates

If you have the time, watch / listen to this past Monday's Tavern Talk Uncut - Episode # 3. You'll get some interesting info on what lies in the future for Swords & Wizardry Light, some insight into how it came to be and some upcoming projects for Frog God Games. Now, all that being said, here's the quick and dirty SWL highlights:

- See the screenshot above? Thats a snippet of one of 4 character cards being put together for SWL. One side will include the class info, attack matrix, spells, etc and the other side will be your character sheet. The idea is postcard sized. Ideal for convention play but also suitable for campaign play. Go Zach!

- Swords & Wizardry Light Monstrosities - well, we aren't sure what the document is going to be called, but Bad Mike (Mike Badolato of NTRPG Con fame) is converting a nice assortment of creature from the S&W Monstrosities book for use with SWL. I've reviewed the work in progress and it it excellent. Nice and short and a great resource for GMs

- Slack - we are using Slack.com to organize communication and the sharing of works-in-progress amongst those of us working on SWL projects. Its really an amazing tool for project coordination. If you are working on a SWL project and wish and invite, contact me at trubluniteAT that gmail thing. If I don't catch your email right away it may fall off screen, so give me a day or three to clear emails before worrying too much.

- You've been reading The Tavern, so you already know about the tutorial adventure. There's other stuff in the works, but for that you should listen to Tavern Talk ;)

Reminder - Tavern Chat Tonight 830 PM Eastern

Yep, it's another Wednesday, and that means another Tavern Chat.

I'll gladly answer questions about the forthcoming Pocket Monsters, Creatures and NPCs as well as the Pocket Settings. However, if all goes as usual, I suspect the conversation will take care of itself ;)

Tonight - 830 PM EST - Tavern Talk Chat Room - Moderated by Vince Florio & Myself

Last week's inaugural Tavern Talk using The Tavern's Chat Box was an overwhelming success. We had many conversations going and many drop ins from across the spectrum of OSR creators and personalities.

Tonight we are doing it all again, and +Vincent Florio and I expect an even larger turn out.

Here's some ways to make tonight's experience less hectic and more pleasurable:

- in the built in chat box, there is the below icon in the right hand corner. Clicking this allows you to pop the char box out as it's own window.

- after popping out the chat box, drag the corner of the chat box page and make the page larger. Now, click the below icon in the now popped out and enlarged chat box - this will allow you to resize the chat box - larger and wider chat box should result in easier to follow conversations.

- if you don't want to have the chat box automatically scroll to the last message (which at the height of last week's conversations was fast and furious) click on the below icon and then un-click "scroll to latest message"

First Tavern Talk was a Success! (Next Week - Same BatTime, Same BatChannel)

Earlier tonight from 830 to 10 pm (NYC time) we held the first weekly Tavern Talk here at The Tavern using the chat widget your see to the upper right of this page.

It exceeded my expectations by far.

At one point we had over 25 people logged into chat, and due to folks dropping in and out, I'm going to guess over 40 folks peeked in at some point (totally pulling that last number outa my ass ;)

Tonight was pretty much a "meet and greet" for members of the OSR community and I was impressed not just those that participated but by the number of conversations going on at once. It was an amazing chaos.

One of the thoughts that came up was a Beer & Pretzels Con - an informal, online con run using Roll20 - probably organized at The Tavern and on G+ (maybe a Beer & Pretzels Con community.) Pick a weekend, post game information, run and play games. I'm really liking this, can you tell?

Anyhow, it was a damn good time. Already looking forward to next Wednesday night :)

Live Chat Here at The Tavern - Tomorrow Night 830PM EST - Tavern Talk

Just a quick reminder that +Vincent Florio and myself are hosting a live chat session tomorrow night (January 14th) at 830 PM Eastern - I may try and pop in earlier. We'll be using the chat box in the upper right of this page - no need to sign up for an account, just sign in with one of your social media accounts.

What are we going to talk about? That's up to y'all :)

We'll be doing this weekly, with the hopes of bringing the community together. well, that and bullshitting with all the amazing people in the community. Can't beat that!

+Vincent Florio and myself will be hosting the inaugural weekly Tavern Talk Chat Session next Wednesday Night, January 14th @ 830 PM Eastern Time here at The Tavern using the chat widget you can see right now on the upper right corner of this page.

Vince already shared the info as an event over at G+ and the response in less than 12 hours has been very exciting.

Now, the question came up as to "what actually is going to go on at this 'chat session'?"

People will mingle, ask questions, make funny comments and most of all - make connections with other members of the OSR community and gaming at large. Sure, you might know some of the bloggers, podcasters, creators, artists, mappers and other personalities in our corner of the hobby but here is your chance to communicate with them and others in real time.

I'm excited to kick this off. It is planned as a weekly event, so hopefully it gets some real momentum going. I may get into the chat as early as 730, all depending on when my niece gets picked up. Otherwise, there will be lots of random typing going on ;)  My witching hour is 1030 my times, as I need to be at work at 6 am.

I'm trying to work out a once a month chat session in which the hours will be more friendly with those across the pond (and even further.) Give me a little time to set that up. When it's locked down, I'll announce it.

There is no need for 98% of you to sign up for anything to chat as the service recognizes most of the major social networks and online services for login purposes. Same with the forum (yeah, we have that too.)

New Year. Same Tavern. New Toys.
