Backerkit - Weird Frontiers Reference Guide

Right off the bat, this is from David Baity, one of the nicest creators in gaming. Oh, and he's a huge cst-person, just saying ;)

Weird Frontiers, a weird west RPG powered by the DCC RPG engine, is literally in two volumes if you buy it as POD. So yes, a Weird Frontiers Reference Guide would be very useful ;)

You asked, and we listened! The latest addition to the Weird Frontiers product line is a much-needed resource that compiles all the things you regularly have to go flipping through the book for! Keep the game going smoothly with this must-have resource!

Fanatical Bundle - DCC RPG Adventures Bundle - For as Little as Free!

I NEVER call these various bundles that I highlight "Ridiculous"! Then again, I've never covered a bundle from Fanatical before, as they primarily deal with computer games. The value offered in the DCC RPG Adventures Bundle is just that - Ridiculous!

For FREE (not even PWYW), you can snag the DCC RPG Quickstart Rules, the DCC Adventure Starter (goes from levels 0-2), the Character Record Folio, and the DCC Reference Booklet. It's a great, free introduction to the DCC RPG. Tell your friends ;)

For $15, the DCC RPG Adventures Bundle includes 30 PDFs. It includes the above, the Dying Earth setting, several Dying Earth adventures, the Goodman Games Dark Tower reprint (and DCC/5e conversion worth the price of admission on its own), Crypt of the Devil Lich, Tome of Adventure Vol 1 (contains the first 7 adventures published for the DCC RPG), Grimtooth Traps books and more. Phew!

Don't pass on this one. Delivery is through DTRPG.

Kickstarter - Port Mirror (ShadowDark/DCC RPG)

Port Mirror is a 0-Level gauntlet/funnel adventure for Shadowdark and the DCC RPG.

I've known Matt De Micco for several years, thanks to NTRPG Con, and I'm a fan of the work he does in our hobby. Port Mirror is his latest Kickstarter, and it is a funnel for ShadowDark and the DCC RPG. I'm a $15 backer.

Port Mirror is the first installment of the Wythmail setting for Dungeon Crawl Classics and Shadowdark. Judges and Game Masters can easily run the adventure in either game system, as stats are provided for both. Play in the setting of Wythmail, or add the town and adventure to your own existing campaign. The adventure features:

  • A 31 page adventure with 17 pieces of original art and maps.
  • Several new monsters like the fiendish cockroach, river reaver, and the Haeyer turtle.
  • NPCs that you can add to your existing campaigns like Jake, a mastiff war dog, you can befriend and add as a companion.
  • An introduction to Wythmail and its 21-god pantheon with added material for Haeyer (the god of the sea, discipline, and hardwork) and Vorkalth (the god of disease).

Free OSR - Cyber Sprawl Classics (DCC RPG)

I know. Goodman Games has been in the gaming news recently. This is a riff off of Goodman Games' DCC RPG. If you ever thought the DCC RPG would be a good fit for the Cyberpunk genre, Cyber Crawl Classics is for you.

You’re a Runner: a rigger, an infiltrator, a street samurai, a cool-headed hacker executing programs in the metaverse. You seek corruption and creds, winning it with console and chrome, bathed in the blood and filth of the oppresive, the megacorps, the police, and the artificial. There are payloads to be won deep in the Sprawl, and you shall have them.

Return to the glory days of cyberpunk with Cyber Sprawl Classics. Adventure as 1984 intended you to.

Humble Bundle - MegaDungeon Bundle from Goodman Games

While it says, MegaDungeon Bundle for 5e & DCC RPG on the tin, some other gems (and refuse) are thrown into the mix.

There are some 3x-era gems (Castle WhiteRock!) and some 4e clunkers. Oh, and some Castles and Crusades releases. Oh, and Dark Tower!

The DCC RPG stuff is top-notch. I own much of it, so speaking from experience.

Bundle of Holding - DCC Dying Earth

The setting material / boxed sets for the DCC RPG are simply stunning in the quality and quantity of the contents.  DCC RPG Dying Earth is no exception, and it holds a prominent place on my gaming shelves. Alas, it will likely never get played, as my gaming group isn't a fan of the DCC RPG, but the books are sweet and a pleasant read.

The Starter Collection for the DCC Dying Earth Set is 17.95, and you can grab the complete Bonus Collection for about 36 bucks.

Adventurer! This all-new DCC Dying Earth Bundle presents the 2022 Goodman Games tabletop roleplaying game adaptation for the Dungeon Crawl Classics RPG of the world-famous Dying Earth stories by legendary fantasist Jack Vance.

Funded in a June 2021 Kickstarter campaign, DCC Dying Earth is the newest licensed RPG version of Vance's setting. DCC Dying Earth is both a sourcebook that expands the DCC RPG core rules and a campaign setting that evokes Vance's singular setting: the distant twilight of Earth as a dim red sun sheds its last life. The world is filled with the whimsical and the curious, the evil and monstrous. DCC Dying Earth is 100% compatible with DCC RPG. Parties can jump from Aereth to the Purple Planet to the dim twilight of the 21st Aeon, where magic and science are one and the same – even back through time to the sorcerous age of Grand Motholam or doomed Ampridatvir. The four new classes (magician, wayfarer, witch, and vat-thing), dozens of new spells, new monsters, and more – all can fit any era and expand any judge's setting.

Note: This licensed DCC RPG adaptation of the Dying Earth stories is different from an earlier version published by Pelgrane Press. These adventures all require the Dungeon Crawl Classics RPG rulebook, which is not included in this offer – but check our DCC Essentials Starter Pack in the Bundle Store!

Dungeon Crawl Classics module 5 Penumbra of the Polar ApeThis all-new offer has everything you need to begin adventuring in the 21st Aeon. For just US$17.95 you get all four titles in our Starter Collection (retail value $61) as DRM-free ebooks, including the complete DCC Dying Earth core set and the first three modules: Dying Earth #0: The Black Obelisk, #1 Laughing Idol of Lar-Shann, and #2 Sorcerer's Tower of Sanguine Slant.

Dying Earth campaignAnd if you pay more than the threshold price of $35.39, you'll level up and also get our entire Bonus Collection with seven more titles worth an additional $67. The centerpiece of this Bonus Collection, debuting exclusively in this offer, is the Casebook of Arcane Apocrypha, a collection of stretch goals from the DCC Dying Earth Kickstarter campaign. And this Bonus Collection also adds DCC Dying Earth modules #3-8: #3 Magnific Machinations at the Grand Exposition, #4 Mind Weft of the Moonstone Palace, #5 Penumbra of the Polar Ape, #6 The Great Visp Hunt, #7 Phantoms of the Ectoplasmic Cotillion, and #8 The House on the Island.

The Casebook of Arcane Apocrypha debuts exclusively in this offer and is not yet available on DriveThruRPG. Download the Casebook from your Wizard's Cabinet on this site.

Kickstarter - Massacre Grounds (Weird Frontiers/DCC RPG)

I don't usually do a second post covering the same Kickstarter, but I think this is an important one to highlight as I'd like to see it fund on Kickstarter (and I believe it deserves to fund, as I've read it already thanks to the author and it presents the myths and legends and history with respect).

Massacre Grounds is a funnel and setting material for Weird Frontiers, the DCC RPG engine weird west RPG. Grab your EXTRA funky dice and dive into a setting based on real-world myths and legends of Arizona history.

You can snag the Massacre Grounds Kickstarter in PDF for 10 bucks, print plus PDF for 15 bucks (plus the actual cost of the POD, approximately 4 bucks).

The story is a combination of local Arizona history and campfire stories from my own life experiences. In the cowboy way, I have added my own tall tales and a healthy amount of new content for the Weird Frontiers Core Rulebook. Players will interact with NPCs that are some of the colorful characters from my life and characters that are based on the history surrounding the Superstition Mountains of Arizona. PCs will also visit historical locations that surround the mountains.

The premise of the adventure starts with a group making the journey from Phoenix (on foot) to Fort Righteous, in the Arizona Desert. They are responding to an ad in the local paper advertising jobs and possible land opportunities. The PCs quickly learn that the desert is a dangerous place. Fort Righteous introduces the group to a whole community that follows the Righteous path. After the fort, the group is further introduced to the dangers of the Arizona Desert, as well as some of its beauty and wonder. The characters are given a chance to tame a wild part of Arizona history, a mustang.

As the story develops, they are introduced to many new personalities. The group will investigate the murder of two local miners and be exposed to the supernatural. The investigation will lead the group to the first run-in with the evil band called the Coyoteros, and the ensuing battle will lead the characters to their first interaction with the Yavapai Apaches and the new chpáya rider class. After interacting with the Apache warriors, the group will have an option for further interactions with the supernatural or to head to the Colossus Outpost. Once they arrive at the outpost, the characters are introduced to a local mining operation and several new personalities. The group is asked to join the Arizona Volunteers to fight against evil forces that are threatening the area. The story climaxes on their first mission and introduces the group to a new villain—a hermit who has been consumed by evil and controls the dead. The characters will have to confront and battle Roscoe the Recluse.

Kickstarter - Last Stop, Perdition! (Weird Frontiers/DCC)

An exciting new adventure for the Weird Frontiers RPG, also compatible with the Dungeon Crawl Classics RPG.

I'm a huge fan of David Baitey's Weird Frontiers DCC RPG-powered weird west game/tome. I believe the book is even larger than the DCC RPG rulebook, but David nailed it. I got to play in a Weird Frontiers scenario at Shire Con and Rach and I, and the rest of the table, had a blast. I just have no inkling as to how to WRITE a Weird Frontiers adventure.

With Last Stop, Perdition! I'll have a 50-ish page 1st-level adventure to run for my regular gaming group. Win-win if you ask me.

This Kickstarter goes to fund a PDF and POD (print on demand) run of the module Last Stop, Perdition!, written by Steve Bean. This will be a 50 page level 1 adventure for Weird Frontiers and is compatible with DCC and includes a new character class, fantastic interior art by Marcin S, Christopher Torres, and Zohn D, cartography by Davin Kluttz, and a cover by Steve Kane. When we make the base level of funding ($8k) a PDF and POD version of the module will be available as well as a few levels that offer original art. PDFs and PODs will be delivered through Drivethru RPG, and with the PODS, the backers will need to pay the print cost of the book (about $3 at the time of this going live) as well as shipping. If we make the $10K threshold, everyone that backs at the Hero of the Weird West level (the Print and PDF level) and above will receive a traditionally printed module instead of a POD. At this level, shipping will be charged through Pledgemanager, but there will be no additional charge for the printing of the book. If we meet our last stretchgoal of $12K, a second full module will be included in both the PDF and print versions! This second module is called Mountain Devils of Muddy Creek and was written by Lee Neilson.

Humble Bundle - DCC & MCC Megabundle #2

Some of the most imaginative adventures in the OSR, and perhaps in RPGs at large, are written for the DCC & MCC RPGs IMHO. Maybe it's the default wackiness of the system, but I've run DCC RPG adventures with Swords & Wizardry rules, and the results were awesome.

The DCC & MCC RPGs hit Humble Bundle earlier today. For as little as a buck, you can get the DCC RPG Core Rulebook, two adventures, and a coupon to use at the Goodman Games website. 25 bucks gives you the DCC and MCC rulebooks, plus 77 adventures and supplements for the two systems. That's about 35 cents a book. Unbelievable!
