Butt Kicking For Goodness! - Myth & Magic Player's Guide - 2E Revived and Updated - The Silent Kickstarter

The Myth & Magic Player's Guide - 2E Revived and Updated!!! Kickstarter is beginning to leave a very unpleasant taste in my mouth.

No update for over 5 weeks and the books haven't shipped, despite apparently arriving in boston back in February.

But hey, when the creator of the kickstarter can't post, grab a friend that can add a comment:

Yeah, uhm, is someone (literally) chained to their desk at work? Five weeks ago we got pics of a Hardcover copy of the Player's Guide, but I'm beginning to wonder if it's the only copy.

Did I mention this was estimated to ship in August of 2012?

Or that this Kickstarter went totally silent for 4 months from mid September 2012 to January 2013?

This post over at the 2,000 Coppers Blog brought him out of hiding last time - will this post do the same? I doubt it. It's tax time and our man behind the Kickstarter works in the Tax field. Besides, all we've seen is a few pics of a single book.

Now, just a small comment - but I can add comments to a Kickstarter thread via the web browser on my iPhone. Is the a reason somebody behind New Haven Games can't do the same?

Here's a pic of the book. Looks nice. Wish I actually had it...

  1. Have one due to me. It looks great, wished I had my copy. Being primarily a 2E player, this was probably the most appropriate "retroclone" for me. Glad I didn't back the DM guide, one step at a time from now on.

Only thing I have from this project is the annoying password-locked draft PDF. Seriously, this is a retroclone, nothing really sensitive to DRM. Kind of goes against the open gaming nature of OSR anyway.

He sent out coupons through RPGNow for non-locked PDFs, but I missed those and the coupons expired rather quickly. Other companies I've dealt with send coupons with a long date or at least sent them as individual emails that make it out of the email filter.

Turn out like this (and Axes & Anvils) gives me pause in regards to future kickstarters, at least from creators I haven't dealt with before or don't have a proven track record. Maybe I'll pick up already published products with the hobby money freed up from these types. I should be cutting back anyway.

  2. Umm, this guy doesn't have internet at home?? If he works in the tax field, he can't afford internet?

  3. Yeah, I was excited about this one and the Caldwell artwork. My friends and I went in on the 4 book deal because we used to play a ton of 2nd edition. The book looks awesome, I just wish I had it in my hands already.

The last update on the forums mention the printer was having issues with printing one of the covers for the Players Journal and that was the hold up.
