Kickstarter - Reaper Miniatures - Dungeon Dwellers Roleplaying Game

A classic fantasy RPG with daring heroes, fabulous wealth, and untold danger. Designed for new and experienced roleplayers.

There is no current shortage of OSR rulesets, and there seems to be no end to them. One of the latest rulesets to be Kickstarted is Dungeon Dwellers Roleplaying Game from Reaper Miniatures. Yes, that Reaper's Miniatures.

I remember Reaper Miniatures from my early days in the hobby but truly appreciated them when the various Bones Kickstarters hit the crowdfunding market. Amazing values and high quality are hallmarks of Reaper in my experience.

So, for the Dungeon Dwellers RPG Kickstarter, I am looking at the Collector's Box-level pledge. Three core books (in print plus PDF), a set of RPG dice (we all need more dice), fortune tokens, 17 minis (with more possible with further stretch goals), 2 PDF adventures, a sourcebook, and the box for 99 bucks. I do think that is the sweet spot.

Look What Arrived Tonight - Reapers Bones II :)

Compared to the size of the Reapers Bones I box, this was miniscule. I told my wife there must be more coming - if looks could kill ;)

The bottom pic shows the complete basic Reapers Bones II box that holds 150 minis. I'll pick through this a bit tomorrow, as I'm hanging out in Tavern Chat tonight :)

No Longer a Wayward Kickstarter - Reaper Bones are Coming "Dungeon Crusade"!

I've got to hand it to Rodger. I slammed his Kickstarter page pretty hard. Dungeon Crusade is a cool concept, but the initial presentation was severely lacking.

Rodger plans to relaunch the Kickstarter, and this time it will include Reaper Bones Miniatures. That's fricking cool as all hell.

Here's from the latest update:
Hello all,
BREAKING NEWS!!! I just got a call from Ed Puhg, President of Reaper Miniatures. There WILL be Reaper Miniatures BONES in Dungeon Crusade! Upon news of this, Dungeon Crusade may be coming down for a relaunch with a much BETTER presentation, reward levels, and a better overall look to this kickstarter.  Ed from Reaper Miniatures was INCREDIBLY nice, and wants to help make Dungeon Crusade the best it can be. We discussed what miniatures would be in the base game.
So here's what I'm thinking: take down this kickstarter, re-launch with a MUCH BETTER presentation, no Blair Witch camera effect, reward levels in the form of Reaper Miniatures exclusive to the kickstarter crowd. I've learned a lot in the past week. I'm going to offer 2 versions of Dungeon Crusade. There will be 1000 copies of the Deluxe edition, packed with Reaper miniatures BONES, as you saw in the one video in the updates. Then a second "retro" edition that would have the cardboard miniatures, and a retro art work for the box. I will keep that $99 price tag for the retro edition, nothing should change with that. As for the deluxe edition with the reaper bones, that's what we have to figure out, price point.  The goal will also change to reflect that Reaper's Bones will be included now. I'll post more details, a list and pix of what miniatures will be in Dungeon Crusade as I speak with Reaper. Panda games are handing the printing and boxing of Dungeon Crusade.  I feel VERY confident when Dungeon Crusade relaunches, it will be a night and day difference, and all for the better. Have a great day guys, talk to you soon...Rodger :)
Who says you can't fix what was broken?

I wish Rodger lots of success with the relaunch of Dungeon Crusade. Now, it would be really cool if there were some "print and play" expansions that use minis from the Reaper Bones Kickstarter ;)

Got Twelve Rats With My Reaper Bones, Still Looking For the Pile of Coppers

I finally got around to unpacking my Reaper Bones tonight. There literally is a crap-ton of minis.

I still need to cut apart the ones that are still one their sprue - bought the hobby knife last week while on vacation along with some brushes. I also need to glue together the bigger pieces.

Overall, I'm very happy. There are, however, a significant number of minis that are bent to the point they can't stand up. I've heard rumors of a 1 sec boiling water dip, bend into place and than ice water to lock, but I think I'll wait for others to work the kinks out of the process ;)

Reaper Bones in Hand - Holy Shit!

No pics yet, as I just came back from a few days in the Poconos and found my huge Reaper box when I returned this evening.

I was ready to bitch and complain that they left out the paints I ordered, but the 4 plain brown boxes held my 24 paints - sweet!

If I find the time I'll unpack everything and take some pics tomorrow. First step is to find some superglue so I can put together the gigantic minis that came with this. My wife already declared that I have enough minis to paint to last me for years and years, if not a lifetime. She is so right ;)

In the meantime - I have my 32 oz beer mug filled with Sam Adams Summer Ale - it's damn hot here in NYC!

Not so "Grim" Reaper - Shipping to Start... Soon?

First, a quick note about Origins. We had been looking forward to seeing you there, but unfortunately we won't be there this year in a booth. Our brother Tim Peaslee will be running demos, so be sure to say hi to him when you're there. We can't do a proper booth this time around because we simply can't spare the labor right now.
Why can't we spare the labor?
Friday, June 7th, we received two 40ft containers full of Bones! For those of you keeping track at home, those containers were filled with over 470,000 models. We're still looking for the last container to be delivered next week, but we have enough to start shipping now.
What's next?
We've unloaded the containers (we have the bruises to prove it). We're getting those models organized into our system and firing up our fulfillment line this week.
We know we're behind our estimated ship date of March, so we've added a second shift for fulfillment so we can process the packages very nearly 'round the clock. We're doing everything we can to blast through these pledges so you can receive your Bones as quickly as we can manage it.
Dare I hope for delivery before the first week of july?

The High Price of Success: Reaper Bones Kickstarter

For some strange reason, most probably naivety on my part, I thought that the Reaper Bones Kickstarter whole point was to add the capability of Reaper to produce Bones (plastic) miniatures in large numbers. What I didn't realize is that the purpose was for a second company in China to produce the miniatures for Reaper. This, apparently adds about 5 weeks to the shipping process, and makes Reaper subject to whatever delays the mysterious secondary company might suffer.

I probably should be surprised, just about everything is made in China these days.

So yeah, this Kickstarter is either shipped or not shipped, depending on whether you had add-ons to your order or not.

I'm in the "not shipped" category.

As of May 14th, this was the latest:

We are currently waiting on only 4 more shipments (Containers) from China, the last of which should be leaving China about one week from today!
It normally takes 3-6 weeks from ship date to arrive at our dock, with 5 weeks being the Average.
As things arrive over the next few weeks we will be able to resume shipping orders, but we are thinking that the bulk of your orders will be waiting for that last shipment to arrive.
Which would restart shipping at the end of June / early July I guess.

Then there is the secondary effect of the Bones Kickstarter, which is apparently tying up product to the point that retailers aren't able to effectively stock the line of miniatures anymore. Heck, if you go to the Reaper site itself you'll notice they haven't added a New Release PDF since October of 2012.

I guess success can be too much of a good thing...

Reaper "Bones" Miniatures 3rd Largest Kickstarter Ever!

It looks like I need to get back to painting miniatures after a 20 year break ;)

Here's what arrives in March (not counting a few extras I'm getting)

I think the count is 240 plus extras - plus S&W Complete AND Shotguns & Sorcery

Next Stretch Goal of the Reaper Miniatures Kickstarter Includes the Swords & Wizardry Complete PDF

Yep, in addition to getting 4 more miniatures at the next stretch goal (for all of you supporting at the Vampire level), you'll also be getting a PDF copy of Swords & Wizardry Complete - that's worth $10 bucks right there! I find S&W Complete comes the closest to playing like the AD&D games I played as a teenager - in other words, it may not be AD&D, but it plays like how WE played AD&D. Hope that makes sense.

Pretty damn cool.

The last value computed (if this were all in metal) is over $1065 for the miniatures that already have molds (and therefore prices) - and 26 new figures + the metal sophie (which you can trade out for $25 worth of other miniatures) + the S&W Complete PDF (if it hits it's next stretch, and why shouldn't it?)
