Bundle of Holding - Corsairs of Cthulhu (CoC)

This is the part where I talk about who I know, so you can read this post with open eyes. I've known Ben Burns, owner of New Comet Games, for about a decade. We set aside time to talk at every NTRPG Con, and I consider Ben a friend.

I own nearly all New Comet Games Call of Cthulhu print releases, which are well worth the investment. At 7.95, this PDF bundle is practically a steal.

Ahoy! This all-new Corsairs of Cthulhu Bundle presents Corsairs of Cthulhu: Fighting the Mythos in the Golden Age of Piracy and other historical Call of Cthulhu Seventh Edition tabletop roleplaying scenarios from New Comet Games. This piratical guide to the years 1650-1730 gives you new rules for alchemy and voodoo, historical occupations and equipment, and maps of Port Royal and far Tortuga. Your 17th-Century Investigators can crew a pirate or privateer vessel, freelance out of a Caribbean port, or sail their own ship as corsairs. They face curses left by ancient civilizations, and nightmares hidden around the Gulf and the seas beyond (waaay beyond). Join the crew, hoist the Jolly Roger, prime your pistol, and sharpen your cutlass. It'll take more than luck to save you today.

For just US$7.95 you get all four CoC supplements in our New Comet Collection (retail value $44) as DRM-free ebooks, including the complete 299-page Corsairs of Cthulhu campaign sourcebook along with three 1920s-era campaigns: A Time for Sacrifice (about Mayan mysteries in the Yucatan), Devil's Swamp (the Hockomock Swamp in southern Massachusetts), and The Star on the Shore (Rockport, Massachusetts). Each campaign consists of shorter scenarios that can be played as standalone sessions, and all are fine for both beginning and experienced Investigators.

Note: These campaigns require Call of Cthulhu Seventh Edition (not included in this offer) or compatible rules such as the free and open Cthulhu Eternal.

Humble Bundle - Ice Caves of Mt. Fuji: Call of Cthulhu© Adventure

I've said it before and I'll repeat it, Ben Burns and his publishing label New Comet Games KNOW the CoC RPG like the back of their hands. I've picked up prior CoC releases from Ben, and each has been awesome and well worth the investment of time and money.

Ice Caves of Mt. Fuji is a Call of Cthulhu 7th edition adventure book licensed by Chaosium. The book will feature the beautiful art work of  Keith Draws,  brought to you by the award-winning company, New Comet Games, the same people who brought you the Call of Cthulhu books Devil's Swamp, A Time for Sacrifice, Star on the Shore, and Corsairs of Cthulhu.

Ice Caves of Mt Fuji is 6 bucks in PDF and 15 bucks for the Print plus PDF.

Kickstarter - Corsairs of Cthulhu - A Call of Cthulhu® Campaign Book

Fighting Mythos in the Golden Age of Piracy - A Call of Cthulhu Campaign book.

Call of Cthulhu is probably tied for my favorite rule system I'll likely never run again, the other being Paranoia 1st Edition from West End Games. Note, I didn't say I'll never play them again, as it is possible I'll find a convention game I could sign up for, but neither game fits well will my fellow circle of players.

Why?

Because neither seems to do campaigns very well, but as one-shots or story arcs, they thrive.

So what does New Comet Games decide to do? They offer a CoC campaign book in the age of piracy.

I think I'm sold :)

Corsairs of Cthulhu - A Call of Cthulhu® Campaign Book is a Kickstarter from New Comet Games.

Ben Burns, the man behind New Comet Games was the guest of Bad Mike & Myself on Talking Crit earlier tonight.

Corsairs of Cthulhu is a rules and setting supplement to the Call of Cthulhu role-playing game and focuses on the period between 1650 and 1730 CE. Your keeper can set up your investigators as crew on a pirate or privateer ship, freelancers in one of the Caribbean ports who love the gold doubloon more than a foreign governments rule, or even provide your investigators with their own ship. Working together the investigators must face evil Mythos, real and imagined. Curses left by ancient civilizations and hidden nightmares around the world.

The golden age of piracy is a time of spreading empires. England, France, Spain, Italy as well as several other smaller countries are planting their flags and colonies on any piece of land they can find. Empires rise and fall, Spanish ships are hauling new found gold from the new world back to Spain and ships are lost to pirates and storms regularly. Governments authorize privateers to sail under their flag but can raise the black when needed.

There are new skills, new professions, famous NPCs and new weapons that the investigators must learn to use if they want to survive against not only the dangers of the Mythos, but also against disease, dehydration, sea monsters, warships, and other pirates.

Kickstarter - A Time for Sacrifice: A Call of Cthulhu Adventure

"A Time For Sacrifice" is a Call of Cthulhu 7th edition adventure book set in Central/South America in the classic 1920's time era."

Although I own the Call of Cthulhu 7th edition core books, I much prefer the CoC Starter Box - the same rules in a nice, bite-sized offering.

Which makes the A Time for Sacrifice: A Call of Cthulhu Adventure Kickstarter very attractive, because now I feel like I have rules for CoC that I feel comfortable running adventures with, and this looks like a damn nice offering.
A Time for Sacrifice is a Call of Cthulhu 7th edition adventure book set in the classic 1920's era, licensed by Chaosium.  The book contains a series of three (now FIVE with stretch goals being met) adventures set in the Mesoamerican setting, including the Mayan society. The book will feature the beautiful art work of  Edoardo Campagnolo, brought to you by New Comet Games, the same people who brought you the award-winning Call of Cthulhu book Devil's Swamp
15 bucks for the PDF - 36 (plus shipping) for the Hardcover book plus PDF (shipping not included)

Kickstarter - Brutal Games - A 5E (1e/2e) Adventure in the World of Darknoth

"A Full Color Fantasy RPG Adventure for characters level 3-5 written for 5E or 1st/2nd edition."

Brutal Games is the latest Kickstarter from New Comet Games, who recently won the Three Castles Award at NTRPG Con 2019 for Devils Swamp (a CoC adventure). Yes, New Comet Games has some very solid releases.
In the fog shrouded islands off the coast of the Reign of the Black Wyrm Kings Province, the inhabitants of the Labyrinth Islands enjoy a sport. A game of deadly consequences to the contestants, for the entertainment of the residents.  When the adventurers are captured their survival depends upon how well they play. Can you survive the Brutal Games.
Brutal Games is a Full Color Adventure for the most popular fantasy role-playing game in the world available for the latest 5th Edition rule set and the still popular 1st/2nd Edition rules. This adventure takes 3-6 characters of levels 3-5 from the Storm Reef Island in the Wyrm Skull Gulf down to the Labyrinth Isles and into the Black Serpentine Swamps.

This adventure was written as the follow up to WoD-1: Citadel of Terror, and picks up right where that module ends. But Brutal Games can easily be played as a standalone, or slide into your own campaign with ease. The game changes every time you play through the adventure, offering different challenges and different goals with every game. We blended  the Hunger Games, the Maze and the Running Man, into this easy to run, adventure.

This sounds like fun :)

The PDF is available in either 5e or 1e/2e for 12 bucks, both for versions in PDF for 18.

Print plus PDF for either version is 19 bucks. Not too shabby.

Five days left on this one.

Kickstarter - RPG Random Encounter Dice (New Comet Games)

"Easy to use Random Encounter Dice for your Fantasy RPG game. Usable with 5E, PF, B/X, S&W, 1E/2E, DCC and more."

Dice. The final frontier.

Seriously, one thing I can never seem to have enough of is dice. Weird sizes, strange colors, unexpected uses - I have all types.

New Comet Games is tossing a new idea (at least to me) onto the table. RPG Random Encounter Dice.
RPG Random Encounter Dice are the perfect tool when you need a new monster to fill in on the fly during a game, when building your dungeon or populating a full world.
Each die has 10 different monsters grouped into similar monster categories.
Each set includes 3 different dice for 30 different monsters. The complete collection includes 12 different 10 sided dice for 120 Unique Monster Outcomes!
A complete collection of all 4 sets is 30 bucks (and includes a bonus die). A single set is 9 bucks. Decisions, decisions...

Kickstarter - Citadel of Terror - An Adventure for 5E and 1st/2nd Ed

I'm a huge fan of AD&D 1e. It's literally what brought me into the hobby. I'm a big fan of New Comet Games. Ben Burns knows how to put out quality Kickstarters. Slip in Paul Riegel, about as old school as it comes and Citadel of Terror rates as a no-brainer.
Citadel of Terror is a Fantasy RPG adventure module written by Paul Riegel-Green and Ben Burns for Fifth Edition (5E) and also converted to be used in 1st/2nd Edition games. This adventure takes place in a new fantasy setting, The World of Darknoth, being released by New Comet Games later this year. Citadel of Terror can also work in any setting.
Citadel of Terror is a starting adventure module for 4-8 players of level 1-4, written by Paul Riegal-Green. The adventure is set in the Kingdom of Addenshire, on the continent of Draconia, in the World of Darknoth. Darknoth is a dark and dangerous world, born from the ashes of all that has come before and been destroyed.
To get more information about the Kingdom of Addenshire, be sure to select a Hero Reward Tier or higher, to include the Addenshire Gazetteer in your rewards. The Gazetteer provides an initial look at the description and background for the Kingdom, providing special information for the area surrounding the city of Adwick for a more in depth experience for your players. The Gazatteer will be written by Gary Van Binsbergen, creator of the World of Darknoth.
PDF is 12 bucks. Print (POD) plus PDF is 19 bucks plus shipping. Higher reward levels include the gazetteer.
