Kickstarter - From the Folks That Brought You "Pencil Dice" (twice), Deck Dice - Playing Cards with Roll-Ability!

Just how many open Kickstarters does D20 Productions have? (and by open, I mean yet to be fulfilled, not necessarily still taking cash)

Pencil Dice (because an unbalanced, not truly random randomizer of the numbers 1-6 is useful in our jail system)

RPG Pencil Dice  (and still open for another 17 hrs as I type this)

Castles & Crusades: Beyond the River (TV Pilot - shudder - I dare you to watch the sample video)

Spinward Traveller (another TV Pilot, and yet more shuddering)

Knights of the Dinner Table: Live Action Series (I've heard some not so good things about the path this has gone down, but my knowledge is 2nd hand, so maybe I should hold out some hope)

Now we have Deck Dice, for those times real dice or even Pencil Dice just won't suffice.

For Ken's next trick, I fully expect Dice Dice, for those that like dice and like rolling them too...

  1. Dice Dice!

    I would totally fund that.

  2. Sounds like he saw Deal100 and decided he couldn't let that money go to someone else.

    1. I'm assuming you mean Deck100, and yes, that's the first thing I thought of too.

    2. The most interesting thing about Deck100 (to me) was the golden dragons. Cinematic-style boss-powered rolls. It made me very tempted to give long-term enemies hand-hacked mechanics if I want them to be larger than life.

  3. We bought in on the very 1st KS at a pretty high level. We are supposed to be getting the KoDT covers book.....you know, the one shipped out weeks ago....Yep, no show so far.

Probably two or three more KS from Ken before we get anything from t(his) KS.

    1. I have some interesting 2nd hand info on the KotDT webshow and Ken's "issues", but nothing first hand, so until I can validate it with multiple sources, I'm not using it.

ah well, maybe my source is wrong

  4. I'm hoping people will buy these deck dice so he will have enough money to fund the Spinward Traveller KS that I funded. I don't think I'll send another dime his way, so as long as the Ponzi scheme keeps going until he finishes Spinward, I'm happy.

  5. I think Ken spammed Jolly so much that Jolly banhammered him on social media, but you probably want to check that before sharing it as fact.

    4. Yes I was spammed to death by the d20 Marketing Machine. Tagged in multiple d20 macbook posts each day (posted to multiple groups to 20k people apparently). I found it was impossible to get off the spam list - apparently asking nicely, over a dozen times wasn't sufficient. I had to get loud and public about it before my name was finally removed. So... I was already a bit frazzled regarding the subject of spam when KODTLAS backers began complaining the kickstarter update list (105 updates and counting) was being used to push/pimp products not related to the project. That led to more head butting trying to get the practice to stop (understand that it is NOT my kickstarter - d20's baby. We just provided the license and creative input and have no fingers on the button). Finally, after weeks we managed to curb that practice - only to learn d20 took the email lists of backers from the project and put them on several spam/mailing lists. Unsubcribe from one list you would pop up on another, and another and then the original list again. Complaints to d20/Ken apparently went unheard so guess what? Backers began complaining to ME!! So ye it's true - I had to get very loud and very public regarding the situation to bring i under control. And to be honest, I'm not even sure if it's been resolved now. But complaints in my inbox have gone down dramatically in recent days. I may need therapy (and some medication) but yes, I am a d20 Spam Tsunami survivor. ;)

    6. More on the spam issue from Larry Elmore who apparently has been experiencing the same issue with d20 Ent. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1488741362/snarfquest-snarfs-new-adventure/comments

  7. Go research Ken Whitman Games on Kickstarter and see those train wrecks.

I did receive my card game, but the path there to get it was less traveled. Evidently the other project was halted by KS since he was trying to sell an item that he "invented" but had been on the market for some time.lol.from information I gathered.

  9. It doesn't take much reading in the comments sections of the d20 Entertainment kickstarters to see the pattern. It't right there in plain sight. KoDT book supposedly shipped, but no one's received one yet. Resin Traveller ship models that arrive broken and poorly painted. Complaints about the abuse of the contact info to send spam emails and refuse to remove folks off the mailing list when requested. Six kickstarters in 12 months (three in the last two months) with none fully fulfilled should be enough to warn anyone off from giving this guy money.

  10. I have a soft spot for stuff like their Castles & Crusades and Traveler shows. Can't help it. They're delightfully cheesy and fun.

  11. I won't comment on d20's business approach or practices here. Anyone who has read my comments no the KODT Kickstarter comments page knows I've had some issues with Ken and they are there for all to read (or read between the lines on).

Just to be clear, I think the cast/crew on the production itself did an AMAZING job - so I don't want to undermine anything they did. They have my highest praise. It was magical.

I've decided to limit any future comments to the KODTLAS comments page where both the backers and Ken can see them and where (I hope) any concerns/issues can be addressed.

I just know private channels with d20Ent hasn't been working.

    2. Thanks for setting the record straight. I'm glad I unsubscribed from updates from the KS when I did, and removed myself from the LAS Facebook group. Thank you for being courteous and professional when I brought it up at the time. -Roger

  12. Apparently Larry Elmore has had enough of his name being thrown around by Ken Whitman:
