Someone put Supers! in Swords & Wizardry Light! Pow! Bamn!

I expected Swords & Wizardry Light to get hacked for other genres and its exciting to see it happening now.

What am I talking about? Linneman over at the Monstrous Matters blog has been releasing free SWL compatible PDFs  with new Supers! classes for his yet to be released Light City setting - The Brawler and The Elemental.

Grab them for free.

God, this is fun stuff :)

  1. I cannot wait to see more to come from this! It will be fun writing One-Page Adventures for this.

  2. These pdfs have been wonderful and he's welcome others to play with it. I've got a Super-Pet class coming out for it any day now.

  3. Can you do superheroes with abandons magic? Seems counterintuitive.

    2. I think you're right that the "fire and forget" notion usually won't fit, but limiting a character's ability to tap into a power source doesn't seem too far off to me. The Elemental, for example, can do some special abilities a number of times per day equal to their level, which in my mind is just fine as a character's increasing ability to harness the element they wield.

There's almost certainly going to be some square pegs and round holes with this, but hey, it's a bit of an experiment, and I'm hoping to hone things as time goes on...!

  4. Thanks to the Tavern keeper for the shout-out!

As Justin noted, I'm definitely open to others' playing around with this. I'd love for it to be a big sandbox for those of us who just like the idea of combining supers and SWL. Four-color adventures are a BIG sandbox to play in...!
