Uncle Matt's D&D Studio and Jordoba Livestream Patreons are Looking for Backers - Join the Cool Kids

+Matt Finch has two Patreons - one for Uncle Matt's D&D Studio and another for his Jordoba livestreams. If you like interviews with creatives in the Old School Gaming community and beyond in addition to game theory, Uncle Matt's D&D Studio is an easy choice to back. Interested in livestreamed RPG sessions with a unique camera perspective? You probably want to back Jordoba. I've got them both covered with a $35 monthly pledge ;)

Below is an explanation by Matt as to the current plans for both Patreons:
I'm trying to round up a few more patrons for the patreons at patreon.com/Jordoba (the games) and patreon.com/unclematt (the channel and website) because I'm going to do another patrons-only livestream on Friday. As an example of communication with the patrons, here is the most recent post made to the channel's patreon forum:
For the first post on the Uncle Matt's D&D Studio patreon, first of all, thank you for your help in keeping the channel on the air!
This is my to-do list for this week on the channel's behalf, and it's kind of an aspirational set of goals, but probably workable.
Today (Wed): I am editing three of the game videos for sound quality and to remove long pauses from the livestream versions. Then uploading them, which is a long process. One of the things all of you have helped to fund is a faster bandwidth for the studio's modem, which is pretty important not only for uploading these videos (an hours-long process) but also for reducing sound and video glitches when recording interviews in a Google hangout. This is a monthly cost that I couldn't have incurred without your help.
I also plan on running a Patron-only livestream on Friday for all of you to advise me and give me feedback on the channel's quality, which means that I'm going to start a bit of a drive for new patrons today so I can have as many people as possible joined up by the time of the livestream.
Thursday: I'm recording an interview with Bill Silvey for the next Thursday conversation on Uncle Matt's D&D Neighborhood, I'm releasing the conversation with Skeeter, and I'll be organizing the publication side of the project so I can begin to put pdfs in your hands and also to start up the project's publishing page. I'll also be updating the Episode Guides on the website, which I can't finish until I've uploaded the edited videos (Wednesday's job).
Friday: I'll run the patron-only livestream and hopefully I'll be able to post up some pdf resources if I'm caught up with Thursday's goal.
Saturday is usually terrain day, since I try to have at least one "signal" piece of terrain made for each game, whether that's a statue or a distinct wall, or a scary door. These are great because they GET Skeeter every single time, and I love the reactions.
Sunday: Same as Saturday because usually I spend time with Ian Finch on one day or the other.
Monday and Tuesday: final prep for the games and run the games.
So that's the plan! In order to get as many people onto the Friday patron-only livestream, it would be great if all of you could share around your opinions about the Patreon so far. People may not realize how much I depend on patrons for advice, and how much it costs - in addition to the monthly bandwidth increase I've just bought a 3D printer to make more stable snap-together terrain for the games, I bought a piece of art to use in videos, and we've always got the cost of the server for the website.

With Permission, I'm Stealing Lists & Links from Old School Gamer Radio - Now 73 Blogs Come a Callin ;)

Last night I added a link to various Old School Podcasts. This morning I yoked links to 73 Old School Blogs (I would have yoked 74, but for some reason, I couldn't get Castle Triskelion to take)

At some point, the blogs will have their own permanent page here at The Tavern where they will be listed alphabetically with descriptions (and possible commentary by yours truly).  They are currently linked below the blog posts themselves - 73 blogs listed by the most recent updates.

Why by updates? Because active blogs should be rewarded. Recent posts should be seen. Alphabetical lists favor the "A"s and hurt those that start with a letter in the middle of the alphabet, which is fine for a list, not so much for an active blogroll.

Want to add your blog to the list? Drop me a line at tenkarsDOTtavern at that Gmail thing with a link and a description and we'll get it added.

+Matt Finch (Old School Gamer Radio) and I are working together on ideas to strengthen and grow the gaming community we both love.

Come to think of it, you've subscribed to Uncle Matt's D&D Studio Youtube Channel, right? Interviews, live play podcasts, gaming thought - the works.  Over1,100 subscribers can't be wrong ;)

With Permission, I'm Stealing Lists & Links from Old School Gamer Radio - First Up, Podcasts

With +Matt Finch encouraging me to yoke the amazingly complete lists of podcasts, blogs, social media groups and vidcasts from the Old School Gamer Radio website and mirror them here I'd be a fool not to do so.

First up is podcasts. I've manually updated the links on the left side of this page and will be adding a permanent page where comments and suggestions for additions can be made.

We're trying to get the best bang for the buck and increase the visibility of all of these resources, and this is literally the first step of many that we've talked about.

Here's the list from Old School Gamer Radio:

Matt Finch interviews Wolfgang Baur - Midgard Setting for S&W Officially Announced

I've been following Kobold Press since before the now defunct Kobold Quarterly. They were an early innovator of crowdfunding and its exciting to see their Midgard setting getting a Swords & Wizardry Guidebook (PDF is $5 for the PDF and $15 for the softcover - use this link and go to the bottom of the page if you are interested in placing an order - https://midgard-campaign-setting-dark-roads-and-deep-magic.backerkit.com/hosted_preorders )

Release is set for March 2017 2018 (damn year change)

Oh, the interview with Wolfgang is pretty good too ;)

If you missed it, Matt and my conversation is linked to the left... hint... hint

Matt Finch Interviews Your's Truly for Old School Gaming Radio

I'm actually nervous sharing this. Not a lot nervous, just a little. You see, when I do podcasts, we have a general idea where the conversation is going to go and I am not the focus. With +Matt Finch I really didn't know where the conversation was going to go and i WAS the focus.

We did I have fun, that's for sure. I haven't watched it yet so I can't tell you whether it went well or not, but shit - it had Matt and that's about all a video needs to have for success.

Watch the video. Subscribe to the channel. Hit the website - Old School Gamer Radio. Tell Matt that "Tenkar sent you" ;)

Announcement - OldSchoolGamerRadio.com is Live

Its official. Old School Gamer Radio dot com went live this afternoon shortly after 4PM Eastern time.

+Matt Finch , +Zach Glazar and +Jim Wampler did a livestream to make the announcement and answer related questions.

If The Tavern is one of the main social hubs of the OSR (Matt and I had this discussion earlier today - that video will go up on Monday, January 2) OldSchoolGamerRadio.com aims to be the media hub. Its where you will go to find blogs, podcasts, vidcasts and more - all linked in one place. Really, you should visit it to see how it works. It worth the trip.

I'm excited as all hell, because anything that puts eyes on the OSR is a good thing. There are many sources of info for OSR gamers but few ways to track it all down - OldSchoolGamerRadio.com should fill that gap.

+Matt Finch also mentioned his Swords of Jordoba liveplay S&W campaign. Its an online vidcast that doesn't use a virtual table top but an actual table with terrain, dungeon walls and minis.

Cool stuff.

Anyhow, OldSchoolGamerRadio will only be as good as you make it. Matt and his team needs links - to blogs, podcasts, vidcasts, forums, Discord Channels and the like. It will only be as "complete" as you help make it.

Tomorrow - Matt Finch & Zach Glazar - Livestream - 4 Eastern, 3 Central - 2018: Year of the OSR

Giving a quick heads up on this as I suspect there will be a number of announcements included - perhaps even about Old School Gamer Radio. You know - the Kickstarter. Can't wait for my hat :)

+Matt Finch and +Zach Glazar will be doing a livestream on Youtube tomorrow starting at 4 PM Eastern / 3 PM Central about upcoming plans and projects for next year. They are calling it 2018: Year of the OSR.

I plan to watch it live an abuse both via live chat. Why don't you join me? ;)

I'll do a followup post tomorrow afternoon complete with link to the livestream the moment I get the link but I wanted to make sure folks knew to look for it.

Kickstarter - Matt Finch's Old School Gamer Radio: A D&D Resource

There are Kickstarters that excite me because of the names involved. Then there are Kickstarters that excite me because of the content. Old School Gamer Radio excites me for both those reasons and more.

Simply put, the OSR is a disorganized and chaotic and extremely beautiful mess. The OSR is vast wilderness of amazing content, creators, communication and the like but it is unmapped and difficult to navigate at times. Make that difficult to navigate all the time.

Old School Gamer Radio plans to help with the mapping:
In our community, it's getting difficult to track the vast array of projects and sub-communities coming from our bloggers, cartographers, YouTubers, artists, authors, facebook groups, and content creators. So OSGR’s first objective is to create and provide a robust search function for links to great OSR content. Looking for the best Greyhawk-centric blogs? Trying to find maps and monsters written specifically for your favorite flavor of D&D or retro-clone? Wanting to try out some podcasts or video blogs that focus on your gaming area of interest? Just looking for free downloadable Old School content? Old School Gamer Gamer Radio will help you find all of that and more quickly and efficiently.
There will also be new content at Old School Gamer Radio, such as YouTube videos with guest commenters as well as regulars.

Alright, I'll admit I backed at 75 bucks. I want that damn hat. Besides, The Tavern will be a full behind the scenes style partner to help in any way be can. I personally believe deeply in this project. How often do you hear me say that? That isn't because I personally know Matt and Zach (it doesn't hurt) but because I think Old School Gamer Radio will be good for the OSR and the OSR is where I hang my hat.
