Back Behind the (Virtual) Screen

Anyhow, I'm sitting in a semi crowded room, waiting for my son to get interviewed for a volunteer position he's interested in, and I'm feverishly answering emails on my iphone from my gamer friends.

Suddenly, I get the "Wasn't Erik going to run a game using one of those online interfaces he's been using?" Next thing I know I have 4 players (2 from my old pen n paper group from 13 years ago) talking about what they want to play.

It appears I'll be running a Labyrinth Lord game (possibly with the Advanced Edition Companion thrown in the mix) using Fantasy Grounds 2. I would use Silvertable (from the guys at iTabletop) but it's not outa of alpha yet. I have 2 weeks to prep. Wish me luck ;)

  1. Good luck! I had a lot of fun running Labyrinth Lord. Such a fast, easy system.

  2. Thanks. I'm nervous and excited. Thankfully I've been playing (as a player) with FG2 for about 2 years now. Should be able to GM a bit ;)

  3. Best of luck on GM'ing with FG2 as your VTT. So far there are only two VTT's I have used, FG2 and Battlegrounds RPG. Both work differently and enhance gaming beyond what a face to face game can do. I bet you'll find the roleplaying opportunities increase if you keep that part of the game to text as opposed to VOIP.

If you have any questions let me know, I'd be happy to share my advice and experience.

  4. heh, we'll see about keeping the roleplaying to text. definitely will be using VOIP. if Silvertable was ready i'd be using video and voice ;)

I do like Fg2 alot tho. Been using as a player for over 2 years, and have been tooling around with the GM interface for longer.

Andugus, I expect I'll be asking you some questions as the time gets closer ;)
