Humble Bundle - Complete Night’s Black Agents & Dracula Dossier Bundle

I remember, not too long ago, there was near-constant talk about the Night’s Black Agents RPG (powered by the GUMSHOE Engine). Well, I no longer hear it talked about so much, and I never took the dive before this bundle, but this may be my time to dive in.

The Complete Night’s Black Agents & Dracula Dossier Bundle is 18 bucks for 22 books, which isn't bad. Sadly, neither of the two cheaper bundles includes the core rulebook. Ah well.

Powered by the GUMSHOE system, the Night’s Black Agents RPG lets you play hyper-competent spies fighting a conspiracy led by vampires. This bundle features rules, adventures and expansions for the Night’s Black Agents RPG, including the epic Dracula Dossier campaign. In this campaign, you must track down and face the ultimate threat - Dracula himself! The Dossier offers an updated version of Stoker’s masterpiece and adds new letters and recordings, diary entries, and documents suppressed by Her Majesty’s Government, plus a Director’s Handbook filled with locations and leads to let your players hunt their greatest adversary. From Transylvania to London, the hunt is on!

Bundle of Holding - Swords of the Serpentine For GUMSHOE

I've been interested in the GUMSHOE system for years, but Swords of the Serpentine may just be the entry game to GUMSHOE that I'm looking for. Swords of the Serpentine is normally 29.99 in PDF, but for the next few days, it is on sale for 7.95, along with a Quickstart adventure.

Swords of the Serpentine is a sword & sorcery game of daring heroism, sly politics, and bloody savagery, set in a fantasy city rife with skullduggery and death. The rules adapt the GUMSHOE investigative roleplaying system to create a fantasy RPG with a focus on high-action roleplaying and investigation inspired by the stories of Fritz Leiber, Terry Pratchett, Robert E. Howard, and others.

Your characters will discover leads that, if followed, propel them headlong into danger and forbidden knowledge. A lead might point the way to sunken treasure, jungle ruins, the missing key to a sorcerous trap, or the true identity of a notorious murderer. The GUMSHOE game mechanics ensure that you’ll always notice leads if you look for them. It’s up to you to choose which one you'll follow into whatever perils lie ahead, in hopes of fortune, glory, justice, or just staying alive another day.

If you want to track down foul sorcerers in a corrupt and decadent city, clamber through underground ruins to sneak into an enemy’s home and rob them, or wage a secret war against a rival political faction, you’re in the right place.

Swords of the Serpentine offers:

  • A fantasy city of mystery and magic inspired by Lankhmar and Ankh-Morpork
  • Tools for fast and effective character creation
  • A customized combat system that opens the door for cinematic, heroic battles
  • Social combat that targets your enemy's morale, letting you defeat some foes through wit, guile, and threats
  • Sorcery that allows you to rip apart a tower with the flick of a hand—but are you willing to pay the price in corruption to body and soul?
  • Powerful allegiances that give you influence in one or more factions across the city, but which can earn you equally powerful enemies...
  • Streamlined abilities that power four distinct types of heroes, and which you can mix-and-match across professions to customize your character further
  • Gameplay and rules mechanics that encourage players to help build the world they're adventuring in
  • Rules for death curses, true names, alchemy, sorcerous items, ghostly possession, political manipulation, and more

Deal of the Day - Night's Black Agents

There's been a lot of talk about the GUMSHOE RPG Engine, which is the engine that powers Night's Back Agents. I like what I've read about the engine, and I really like the implied setting for Night's Black Agents, but I think I'd want to be a player in such a game and not the GM. Hmmmm.

Today's Deal of the Day is Night's Black Agents. Normally 24.95 in PDF, until tomorrow morning it is on sale for 4.99.

Night’s Black Agents brings the GUMSHOE engine to the spy thriller genre, combining the propulsive paranoia of movies like Ronin and The Bourne Identity with supernatural horror straight out of Bram Stoker. Investigation is crucial, but it never slows down the action, which explodes with expanded options for bone-crunching combat, high-tech tradecraft, and adrenaline-fueled chases.

Updating classic Gothic terrors for the postmodern age, Night’s Black Agents presents thoroughly modular monstrosity: GMs can build their own vampires, mashup their own minions, kitbash their own conspiracies to suit their personal sense of style and story. Rules options let you set the level of betrayal, grit, and action in your game. Riff from the worked examples or mix and match vampiric abilities, agendas, and assets for a completely custom sanguinary spy saga.

The included hook adventure gets the campaign going; the included city setting shows you what might be clotting in Marseilles’ veins even now. Rack silver bullets in your Glock, twist a UV bulb into your Maglite, and keep watching the mirrors … and pray you’ve got your vampire stories straight.

Bundle of Holding - The Yellow King

More GUMSHOE system gaming :)

I actually own this in hardcover, with. It's a good-looking game, which regretfully I have yet to run.

You can grab The Yellow King "King Collection" for $17.95 at Bundle of Holding.

Investigator! We've resurrected our June 2021 Yellow King RPG Bundle featuring the surreal supernatural tabletop game The Yellow King from Pelgrane Press. Designed by Robin D. Laws (Cthulhu Confidential, The Esoterrorists) and funded in a June 2017 Kickstarter campaign, the brain-bending YKRPG uses the fast-playing "Quickshock" GUMSHOE system. Investigate the malign influence of Carcosa in mysteries of reality-changing horror across four different timelines inspired by the famous horror stories of Robert W. Chambers collected in The King in Yellow: 19th-Century Paris, a Continental War across Europe, civil war in an alternate America, and even a world that looks like our own – except....

This bargain-priced June 2021 revival once again brings you DRM-free .PDF ebooks and MP3 music tracks for The Yellow King RPG and a congeries of Carcosan creations. For just US$17.95 you get this revived offer's King Collection (retail value $60) with the complete four-volume The Yellow King RPG (retail price $55), along with the six atmospheric music tracks in James Semple's The Yellow King Suite.

And if you pay more than the threshold price of $28.08, you'll level up and also get this revival's entire Scholar Collection with four more titles worth an additional $56, including a big compendium of stunning YKRPG handouts, Absinthe in Carcosa; Kenneth Hite's erudite edition of the original Chambers book, The King in Yellow: Annotated Edition from Arc Dream Publishing; and two volumes of Carcosan fiction by Robin D. Laws: the alternate-history novel The Missing and the Lost and the story collection New Tales of the Yellow Sign.

Bundle of Holding - Cthulhu Confidential (ONE GM and ONE lone player)

Head-to-head Mythos roleplaying for ONE GM and ONE lone player.

I've been wracking my brain to find a way to introduce Rach to the Cthulhu Mythos while running one on one gaming sessions. Well, I think I've found the solution as well as the system.

Investigator! Once again you fight alone against monstrous adversaries in this revived April 2020 Cthulhu Confidential Bundle featuring the GUMSHOE One-2-One tabletop roleplaying games from Pelgrane Press. Guided by a Game Moderator (GM), you become the sole protagonist in suspenseful investigative adventures -- noir nightscapes right out of the Cthulhu Mythos and superspy espionage. Can you solve the case with your hide -- and sanity -- intact?

This revival once again gives you most of the One-2-One line for a bargain price. For just US$12.95 you get all four titles in this revived offer's Starter Collection (retail value $46) as DRM-free .PDF ebooks, including the complete standalone 328-page Cthulhu Confidential rulebook and three investigations: The Howling Fog, The House Up in the Hills, One For the Money.

And if you pay more than the threshold price of $25.11, you'll level up and also get this revival's entire Bonus Collection with five more titles worth an additional $53, including the complete standalone Night's Black Agents: Solo Ops rulebook by Gareth Ryder-Hanrahan based on Kenneth Hite's Night's Black Agents; the Solo Ops adventure The Best of Intentions; and three more Cthulhoid investigations: High Voltage Kill, Ex Astoria, and The Shadow Over Washington.

I'm in for the Bonus Collection.

As If I Didn't Have Enough to Read - The Bundle of Holding "Gumshoe System" Collection

I'm not sure if following the "Bundles of Holding" is a good thing or a bad thing for me. I love getting really cool RPGs at an amazing price. It's just that I have so much to read before I can get time to properly dig into this latest bundle.

The "Ken Writes About Stuff" looks to be a series of articles - I think I can squeeze that in as time allows.

You can currently get this bundle with the bonus games for less than 12 bucks in PDF (and some ePub versions).

There's about 5 days left on this bundle...
