Weis & Hickman sue Wizards of the Coast for Breach of Contract re: New DragonLance Series

Margaret Weis LLC & Tracy Hickman and suing Wizards of the Coast for Breach of Contract, Breach of Implied Covenant of Good Faith and Fair Dealing, and Tortious Interference with Contract. The lawsuit can be read in its entirety here.

Having read the entire filing, I find the following stand out:

It appears that the controversies at Wizards of the Coast run deep and wide. If nothing else, it's a sad day for Dragonlance fans.

  1. Hope you like politically corrected Dragonlance because that's what your going to get of WotC in the near future.

  2. The future of D&D will be all races are good aligned and combat will be removed in favor of serious talking to's

  3. I wonder if they'd go as far as releasing bowdlerized versions of the original novels.

    1. More likely let them just remain out of print forever like DragonQuest

  4. It’d be great if Hasbro released the Dragonlance IP to the authors, but I can’t see a corporation ever releasing an IP like Dragonlance for fear of seeing it turn profitable. Better to sit on it as a dead corpse than be made to look foolish.

    1. Why would they give away their property? At the very least they'd want some $ for it

  5. How long before the Hasbro fan-boys rush to the defense of the corporation?

  6. There go Gully Dwarves ruining things for everyone again.

  7. I never played Magic:TG nor did I transition to 3E or 4E, so the first time I ever gave money to WoTC was for a pdf of the Rules Cyclopedia. Looks like there won't be a second time.

Needless to say, if you lack a close & personal friend willing to lend you Dragonlance pdfs until they're available again, there is a "Trove" of possibilities just a Google search away...

  8. Interesting lawyer take on the lawsuit:
