Kickstarter - Folio #30 The Great Maze Adventure! (1e & 5e)

Part 5 of a new AD&D and 5E Mega-Dungeon Adventure Set, The Virgin Mine!

This is far from the first time I've highlighted a Kickstarter from Art of the Genre. If I were actually organized, I'd be able to show off a gaming shelf of Folio goodness. I'm not organized, so that isn't happening anytime soon ;)

Scott has an amazing ability to grab the right cover artist for his projects, and this time is no different. Detachable covers, much like the classic TSR era covers of old, are always an appreciated touch.

Folio #30 is the 5th of 6 in a series of Kickstarters. 22 bucks (plus shipping) gets you print plus PDF. PDF only is 12 bucks. All 5 releases in the series in print plus PDF is 110 plus shipping.

Join the adventure as Art of the Genre continues to add content to its first new mega-dungeon in over three years!  This fifth part of a six phase mega-campaign is based around 5th level characters in a completely revolutionary setting.  I've specially designed the dungeon to breathe new life into those low-level adventuring levels while allowing the DM the ability to create incredible story arcs with old favorite monsters like lizardmen, giant serpents, huge toads, and even early fantasy RPG video game monsters inspired from classic crawls like Wizardry and Bard's Tale!

The Virgin Mine setting revolves around an adventuring company moving into the wild jungles ruins around the Imperial Capital city of Nextyaria.  Here, they will match wits against other treasure-seeking adventuring companies as well as the intelligent dungeon that hosts relic treasures with nearly unlimited power.

Folio #30 will introduce characters to the next section of the massive Virgin Mine Dungeon, The Great Maze! Unlike normal dungeons, this one carries various mysteries and wrinkles that 'bend' the rules of character advancement, and strategy will need to be employed as the party learns the ropes within the Virgin Mine Dungeon setting.  Dungeon details include 2D standard hex maps as well as fully 3D renderings of The Great Maze section of The Virgin Mine.  A gazetteer section will give background on the new rules for the dungeon.  Five new monsters lurk within, as well as new magical treasure.  It also features a fully removable and stand-alone cover in perfect OSR tradition that acts as a DM Screen!

Kickstarter - The Complete Curse of Roslof Keep Campaign (1e & 5e)

I've been a fan of Scott Taylor / Art of the Genre for a number of years. The individual modules have classic TSR era styled cover, and the art and writing are simply top-notch. Probably the best of the adventure arcs is the Roslof Keep series. The Complete Curse of Roslof Keep Campaign Kickstarter put that story arc into a single hardcover book.

With the success of our first Roslof Keep campaign in 2015, there was little doubt that we would revisit the concept of Mithelvarn’s Labyrinth at some point in the future. So came The Curse of Roslof Keep mega-dungeon in 2018, and after two years, 6 full Folio adventures, 9 campaign adventures, 6 mini-adventures, and a setting gazetteer, the full width and breadth of this new high level dungeon was realized. Now, for the first time, ALL of the various odds and ends of the massive campaign will be housed in a single place, The Curse of Roslof Keep ‘orange spine’ hardcover! Some things within have never before seen print, and all 128 pages will be dedicated to characters levels 10-17. So, we hope you will join Art of the Genre as we ‘complete the OSR circle’ and render another AD&D-inspired hardcover right out of the 1980s, with an incredible cover by our final member of the ‘four TSR artistic horseman’ Clyde Caldwell.

What is within these pages? This 6 level mega-dungeon is rendered in both 2D ‘blue’ hex maps, as well as full 3D artistic rendering, and is complete with 6 full size modules, 9 smaller campaign addition modules, and 6 bonus mini-adventures as well as the Rogues Guide gazetteer for the setting proper. You will find new monsters, deadly NPCs, and all manner of dungeon crawling wickedness, all for characters in the teen levels of experience, and rendered mechanically in both 5thEdition Dungeons & Dragons and classic Advanced Dungeons & Dragons formats.

Kickstarter - Folio #1 1E & 5E Adventure Reprint

The Folio is one of the most successful, serialized gaming supplements available today and probably the only one that dual stats for both OSR systems and 5e.

If you missed out on the start of the series, the Folio #1 1E & 5E Adventure Reprint is your chance to grab a reprint of the first issue, which is also the first part of the Roslof Campaign.

Hurry though - just over two days left in the funding period.
Three years ago I started the Folio series with a dream of creating OSR inspired adventures that also fit into today's gaming styles.  My first adventure was entitled 'Beneath Roslof Keep'.  At the time, I had no idea that The Folio would become a 'thing', or that so many fans the world over would enjoy the exploits of this particular dungeon delve. So, as I ring in 2018, I wanted to once again touch base with Roslof Keep, and try to allow new players who might have missed this long out of print module the opportunity to lay hands on it.  As it was the first module ever produced by Art of the Genre, I also wanted to have a chance to go back in, modify the content and presentation to match what later became out standard Folio process, and also add-in content not included on first publication.
So, if you've ever wanted to own a Folio, start a new campaign, or just want to see what we do here are Art of the Genre, this is a perfect opportunity to get in on the ground floor, or should I say, Beneath Roslof Keep.
My Project: The Folio is a 1st Edition & 5th Edition gaming module. It will be produced as an 8x11”, removable cover [11x17" once removed], adventure with mostly b/w interior artwork. The final size is roughly 32 pages of content.
Who’s it for? ALL gamers, both new gamers and old gamers as it is easily expandable or playable as is.The concept is to allow gamers a starting point for adventure that can be modified to their liking while providing excellent reference content and framework. The base mechanic will be for 1st Edition AD&D, while having 'grey block' stat blocks for 5th Edition D&D, but I’ve designed it to be readily modified to any fantasy game.
What’s in it? It has been written by myself and my OSR compatriot Mark Timm, with incredible cover art from old school masters and interior artwork by skilled black and white illustrators Travis Hanson and Michael Wilson, and even a bit of Jim Holloway because I can never get enough Holloway. We are intent on providing a polished and modern design with creatively nostalgic content that transcends a particular age. The Folio will contain a 3-D map, a Gazetteer, a monster section, a new monster unique to the setting, DM’s notes and guides, and a full adventure.

Kickstarter - The Folio #7 Deadlands Edition (Hell on Earth)

Savage Worlds is the game I'd love to love and I almost can grok the system at this point. My OSR wired head still gets confused with the spells and powers aspect of Savage Worlds. When I retire I'll need to get someone to give me a crash course in the system ;)

That all being said, I have some major love for the settings that have been released for it and Deadlands in no exception. I still have my copy of the the pre Savage Worlds Deadlands that was a stand along game. I also have the Savage Worlds setting for Deadlands and Deadlands: Hell on Earth and some of the other supplements. While I can't say I'm an expert on the Hell on Earth setting (or Deadlands Noir) I can say I can easily get lost for hours just reading the setting material. If any of it sneaks into my StarSlinger setting, I'm hoping it's inspiration only ;)

Imagine my surprise to find out that the same folks behind the Folio Series of OSR / 5E adventures have secured the license to release an official Savage Worlds Deadlands: Hell on Earth (Folio #7) adventure via Kickstarter.

I really enjoyed the first six releases in the Folio series, as they weren't only well written, but the art was top notch and the layout was professional. Looks like I'll be adding Folio #7 (Deadlands) to my collection.

Damn, I really need to bring that retirement date up so I can have all the time to read the things I want to and already own, let alone the stuff I'll be getting in the coming months.

Sadly I just have the original Folios in PDF, but there is a support level to get all 7 in print and PDF. Delivery estimate is March 2016. I retire at the end of March. The gods have spoken and I must obey...

From the Kickstarter page:
Art of the Genre is proud to partner with Pinnacle Entertainment Group in bringing our fans Folio #7!  After completing the Roslof Keep Campaign it seemed a perfect point to sidestep to Savage Worlds for an adventure in the Deadlands: Hell on Earth setting.  It is an absolutely fantastic setting with an award-winning mechanic that I hope all our fans will give a shot.
With Folio #7, we will be blending the same OSR specs that our fans have grown accustomed to with the previous issues while also blending in some aspects of the Deadlands: Hell on Earth design.  I truly hope you'll have a much fun playing this adventure as my players did, and as always thanks for taking the time to check out our latest projects here on Kickstarter
And as always, Instead of making gaming anvils, I’ve drilled the artistry of the game down, found the gems of a fast-paced adventure, and delivered it in such a way that both new and old gamers alike can enjoy and play without taxing their life schedules. In the end, isn’t gaming about being fun for everyone, not just the players? The Folio’s goal is to ensure that, and always give folks the very best quality ‘lean and mean’ adventures we can.
