Humble Bundle - 3d Fantasy Miniatures - The Complete Bundle

So, long story short, I have a nice 3d printer that is still in the box. Now that I'm looking at the 3d Fantasy Miniatures Bundle, I need to figure out a proper place to set it up at. Ah, trials and tribulations of an RPG Collector ;)

I'm going to show what you can snag for 1 buck. 25 bucks get you the complete collection, and that's where I am grabbing this at, but even for a buck, you get a nice collection of minis to print out with your 3d printer.

An epic treasure trove of 3D printables

Bring your fantasy tabletop gaming sessions to life with this massive loot haul of 3D printable miniatures and terrain! Featuring 100+ models and themed sets, this bundle lets you create ready-for-adventure dwarf paladins and elf mages; modular taverns and treacherous mountain terrain; and a bestiary of monstrous creatures to bring peril to your next campaign. Plus, your purchase helps support Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Good Deal Going on Right Now Over at Kickstarter

Good Deal Going on Right Now Over at Kickstarter
Today kind of sucks for me......I finally got my home server setup almost like I want it (will be putting it into a new case next month) and I go to hookup my external drive to transfer about a year's worth of RPG downloads to the server....and I accidentally knock if off the table. Now it just makes a clicking noise and Windows won't see it anymore.

Now I'm a firm believer in the idea that if you don't have your data in three places you don't have your data. I really haven't lost much, well actually I've lost a LOT of data, but some of it is on other devices/drives. Some. My rather large collection of 3d printing files are *poof*. I'm sure some of those files are backed up, but that backup is back home on the family farm and there isn't a local backup because....well because I can just re-download all of those things.

It's a complete and total PITA, but it is doable.

So I've got a long road ahead of me logging into like three or four different websites/databases and clicking through 5,000 files to restore things......which is sad since I was literally setting up top transfer files so I'd have the data in 2 places (I was going to burn everything to a Blu-Ray M-Disc for my off-site tertiary).

Gee whiz Chris, sounds nice by why TF would I give a rat's-ass about your 1st world problem?

Ok, well for one.....wake up call to keep your data organized. Second, I'm ass-deep in .STL files right now and so obviously I'm thinking about 3d printing files.....and this particular morning, Fat Dragon Games current Kickstarter: Realm of the Goblin King

My first guest-post here at the Tavern was to totally bitch and moan about Ken Whitman and his highway robbery that was his Kickstarter Scams. Erik is more than up-front when it's come to his Kickscammers, but I'm not sure we get to hear too often about the guys doing these things right....and Tom Tullis/Fat Dragon Games does a helluva job with Kickstarter:

  • Has most of the product designed (main pledge level-stuff) and tested before starting the campaign.
  • Doesn't have a HUGE campaign goal.
  • Lots of stretch-goals/add-ons
  • Actually innovates
  • Delivers early

Now as far as Tom goes, he likes to project an online persona that he's an asshole, but he's actually one of the nicest guys I've run into in the industry, which is saying a lot because we have a lot of nice guys in the industry. Sure we have actual assholes too, but they're not the norm.....

Now I do have a decent Tom Tullis story that I could share, but he's probably not going to like (well, at least publicly) me going any further along this train of thought. What I can "say" however, and I'm kind of banking on my own reputation here, is that I own almost every product that Fat Dragon Games has ever produced. The only stuff I do not own is either modern or futuristic/Sci-Fi. I can honestly say that I put my money where my mouth is and I can't sign up for Fat Dragon Games' Kickstarters fast enough!

This is what is being offered for $75 (and this isn't counting the stretch goals!):

Totally worth the $75

Currently there are only two stretch goals left...and those will be hit easily, so my promotion here is not to benefit my own pledge. I'm just wanting to help a good guy/company out, and more importantly, turn some Tavern Patrons onto a good thing.

Kickstarter - STL Files for 3D Printing Star Hat Miniatures

Star Hat Miniatures and Ill Gotten Games Presents: STL Files for 3D Printing Dungeon Delvers, Ducks, Turtles, Trolls, Crows, and more!

I'm a HUGE fan of Darcy Perry and his Star Hat Miniatures line. With amazing details, imaginative poses, and unique creatures, his work is second to none.

Darcy's STL Files for 3D Printing Star Hat Miniatures Kickstarter may just be the offering that convinces me to purchase a 3d printer. Imagine, unlimited Tenkar miniatures! :)

STL files for 3D printing Star Hat Miniatures is a set of 3D-printable miniatures that you can print, paint, and enjoy in your tabletop games.

Hand Sculpted High-Quality Digital STL files

My name is Darcy Perry from Star Hat Miniatures and I sculpted these miniatures by hand, using traditional methods (putty, paperclips, and patience). Inspired by the classic miniatures of my youth, sculpting has been my passion for the last 6 years. Jeremy Larsen from Ill Gotten Games scanned my miniatures using a dual-camera LED scanner that rotates the model on two axes to provide high-resolution digital STLs. Your pledge is delivered as an STL file pack to print on your home 3D printer. I hope you enjoy my miniatures as much as I enjoyed making them!

Guess what? We have Darcy as tonight's Special Guest on the Talking Crit Livestream tonight at 8 PM Eastern!

Humble Bundle - Dragonlock and Ravenfell (2d & 3d printables from Fat Dragon Games)

Let me start this with some background. I've known Tom Tullis for years, and consider Tom a friend. For a number of years, I ran the 3d dungeon terrain for Frog God Games known as The Mouth of Doom at various conventions (a section of the mega-dungeon Rappan Athuk) and had a blast doing so. The terrain was 3d printed from Fat Dragon Games Dragonlock models. I do not own a 3d printer although I have backed Kickstarters that offer such as well as have purchased Humble Bundles for such in the past. Planning for the future I guess ;)

Earlier today, Tom, via his Fat Dragon Games company, launched a Humble Bundle for 2d and 3d printables for his Dragonlock and Ravenfell lines of terrain. Note, the 2d terrain is paper terrain, and printable on the typical home printer.

You can snag the Dragonlock and Ravenfell Humble Bundle for as little as a buck (miniature figures), or snag it all for $18.

Kickstarter - Uncommon Monstrosities (3d Printable Miniatures)

One of these days I'm going to have to take the plunge and get a 3d printer. I've been saying that for at least two years now, and when I see things like James Shields's latest Kickstarter, it makes me want it more and more. The issue for me is space, but I may have a solution after Christmas. Of course, I'd have to back for the STL files now. Hmmm, maybe I'll ask for a nice 3d printer for Christmas...

Oh, and look at that! 25 bucks for the base buy-in. 75 bucks if you want a non-exclusive license to print and sell the minis. At 125 you also get non-exclusive stock art rights to the art. Damn you Uncommon Monstrosities! I'm in for $125.

Some monsters get all the attention. Why use the same old monsters when there are so many diverse creatures in fantasy worlds? Challenge your players with... Uncommon Monstrosities!

This project offers 20 unique creatures with unusual approaches to classic monsters. Every model is inspired by tabletop artist, Jeshields and modeled by Dionizo Lopes.

Kickstarter - Frog Folk Villagers - 3D Printable & Physical Model + CHIBI

I'm really really tempted to get a 3d printer, especially in these days of pandemic lockdown. The files coming out for 3d printers these days are simply amazing in detail. With the Frog Folk Villagers Kickstarter you can snag files or physical pieces. I've always been a Bullywug fan ;)
As your brave RPG adventurers travel through the edges of the swampland on their way to the Mountain of Taunting Doom ... they come upon a village of simple Frog Folk.  Are they peaceful?  Will they attack suddenly when your guard is down?  Maybe befriending them will give your party some vital information for your daunting quest ahead!

Kickstarter - Mythic Mugs - 3D Printable Fantasy Can Holders

"STL-files of accessories designed for the tabletop RPG community and anyone who loves nerdy decoration."

It seems like every couple of weeks there's another Kickstarter telling me why I need a 3d printer. The Mythic Mugs Kickstarter is simply another Kickstarter to add to the long list. Well. that and your bartender already collects beer steins - how far off is s=this Kickstarter? Not very ;)
The Mythic Mugs is a series of 14 highly detailed can holders, taking classic fantasy elements and putting them into mug form. They come as 3d-printable, hi-res and supportless stl-files.
They are able to hold a wide variety of can sizes by using a unique can holding system that comes with the mugs. The Mythic Mugs can inserts allows the following cans to be used: 25cl, 12oz sleek, 33cl, 12oz, 16oz and 50cl. OR, scale the mug up by 10,625% and it will be able to hold 23oz, 23.5oz and 25oz (73mm diameter cans). The Mythic Mugs have been designed as can holders and you should not drink from them directly. We have listed alternative usages and ways to drink from them in the bottom of the page.
Fuck me. I need o buy a new home of I want a 3d printer. Le sigh.

Sale - Dragonlock 3d Printing Sale - up to 75% off (Fat Dragon Games)

If you know Tom Tullis, you probably know he's dangerous, but in a good way. Well, Tom Tullis is the man behind Fat Dragon Games, and the tempter of all things 3d printing has to offer is offering a sale on his Dragonlock series of 3d printing files - up to 75% off.

I really need a 3d printer. Well, "need" might be the wrong word. I desperately want a 3d printer and openly covet those of my fellow gamers. Tom is not helping me...

The quality is high and the prices are low. Damn you, Tom!

Kickstarter - City of Jordoba: 3D Printable Terrain by Otus and Lovecraft (and Matt Finch)

I think I've gotten to the point where I need a 3d printer because of Kickstarters like this. Yes, Fat Dragon has had some amazing 3d printable terrain Kickstarters, but the City of Jordoba: 3D Printable Terrain Kickstarter is pushing me over the edge. Damn you Matt Finch and Company. Damn You!
This is not your ordinary "fantasy city" -- it's built on sword & sorcery fiction, not on "high fantasy." Sword & sorcery fiction - the heart of D&D - isn't really set in the worlds of Tudor and Gothic architecture. For example, Conan strides through realms that are mostly akin to the Fertile Crescent and Africa -- nothing like Merry Olde England. Fafyrd and the Grey Mouser swagger around in cities based on Alexandria, Tyre, and Seville. This is the realm of the Black Company, not the the Fellowship. Not only is sword & sorcery fiction "based" outside of Western Europe, it takes imaginary versions of these places and adds the strange, the weird, and the alien.
Who better to portray the strange, the weird, and the alien than famed D&D artist Erol Otus? For our fantasy city we've teamed up Erol Otus as a concept artist, Iain Lovecraft as the sculptor and designer, and Matt Finch as concept artist and designer. Our objective -- to offer a swords & sorcery city that's different from anything else out there.
Cult following? Yeah, pretty close. Erol's work on early D&D art includes the cover of the Basic Set and the famous Cthulhu Mythos section of Deities and Demigods that TSR removed from the book in later printings. He has, let's say, a reputation for weird, phantasmagorical imagery, which made him perfect for what we wanted to do with this Kickstarter. We got Erol to do a lot of the concept art upon which this Kickstarter is based, with contributions from Matt Finch. Iain Lovecraft's well-known work as a 3D sculptor/designer is, of course, present throughout.

Kickstarter - City of the Hobgoblin King: 3D Printable Fantasy RPG Terrain (Matt Finch)

I'm in a bit of a Kickstarter coverage backlog due to last week's TotalCon and this week's upcoming Gary Con. I'm trying to get in what I can before I fall into "Con Posting Limitations." I'm happy to get a post a day in while at a convention.

As usual, I blame Tom Tullis. Tom of Fat Dragon Games knows 3d printing and has released some amazing 3d printing files via Kickstarter. If I told you how close I am to buy a 3d printer because of Tom, you might not believe me. Well, Matt Finch and his City of the Hobgoblin King: 3D Printable Fantasy RPG Terrain Kickstarter may just put me over the edge. I think when I get back from Gary Con we're moving my son's boxes (of shit he left being when moving to Salt Lake City) to storage. I need room for a 3d printer.

Seriously, look at the samples pictured (yep, pictures speak volumes with this Kickstarter)

5 bucks

49 bucks
Damn you all! I do not need but I sure do want...
