The only thing thats assures about the new edition thus far is that they will fuck it up in implementation, if not design as well.JoetheLawyerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00380090049725742287noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1724254580047847936.post-63492409641931070762012-04-12T12:42:15.987-04:002012-04-12T12:42:15.987-04:00This comment has been removed by the author. This comment has been removed by the author.JoetheLawyerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00380090049725742287noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1724254580047847936.post-70256805557296170702012-04-11T19:34:02.047-04:002012-04-11T19:34:02.047-04:00nope, it's divide and watch potential gamers f...nope, it's divide and watch potential gamers fall thru the cracks...Erik Tenkarhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05159289652051155824noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1724254580047847936.post-47443153241522837392012-04-11T19:30:06.524-04:002012-04-11T19:30:06.524-04:00Rather than the Monte edition to rule them all, th...Rather than the Monte edition to rule them all, they should support at least two lines: d&d5 and classic (everything else). Are they going to leave their systems that are supported and very much alive for a new system that won't match their style of play?

One key difference is that D&D4 is so tied to online resources that if WotC switch those resources off -- as I expect them to do when D&D5 comes out -- then it's going to be a lot more difficult for players to stick with that edition. Not impossible, by any means, but it would be much more inconvenient to play D&D4 if the tools are unavailable, and so much easier to just move to the new edition.

WotC withdrew support for the older editions with their pdf blunder, but the games are still just as playable without online elements, and the OGL and OSR have enabled others to step into the breach. I wonder if D&D4 will have a DIY community of its own when the dust has settled?Kelvin Greenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01928260185408072124noreply@blogger.com
