A: Poorly....Q: How does your group handle treasure?
A: Poorly.
I'd love to see a couple of different simple "contracts" that you could hand to your groups and just say, "pick one."Baron Greystonehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16636292202674906870noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1724254580047847936.post-87924922933786174092020-10-04T18:26:19.514-04:002020-10-04T18:26:19.514-04:00Now I know what that thoughtful look on your face ...Now I know what that thoughtful look on your face is as we were playing the other night....

The way I put together the loot list and how we approached dividing it up is ALWAYS how I did it as a player. I had heard of the other methods you mentioned, but never played with any group which used them. Magic items went to those who could use them first, then to others who needed magic items because they hadn't gotten anything recently. Gold/treasure was just evenly split up at the end of the adventure as needed. Now, this group is the first where I've had to be the accountant as no one asks to get a share of gold. All our expenses have been pulled from the totals there. But, as we are in the middle of nowhere and surrounded only by farmers and fishermen, there's not a need to buy anything.

As a DM, I also hate having to hide the magic parts. So, there's usually an Identify scroll to be found somewhere, just to make it easier.

Great post, Chris! Thanks for being a part of our group, too!Balrog62https://www.blogger.com/profile/10524223991891502964noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1724254580047847936.post-58113094395758577592020-10-04T17:44:49.915-04:002020-10-04T17:44:49.915-04:00I expect we handle it like a lot of people do:
- ...I expect we handle it like a lot of people do:

- magic items go to those who benefit from them the most.
- monetary loot is divided evenly *or* according to need, if the XP system rewards an uneven split.
- magic items that could go to anyone go to the characters who don't get anything.
- if the above makes the split really lopsided, the players find some way to compensate the ones who got the shaft.Peter Dhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14246000382321978462noreply@blogger.com
