These classes were either assigned to our group as pre-rolled characters, or the DM would allow us to massage our ability score rolls until we reached the minimum requisites. We mostly played one-off adventures though, so "growing" into an over-powered character wasn't a problem.

There was a post here about Bards awhile ago, too. I've never encountered a "natural" bard. No one in our group ever had the prerequisites or patience to play one.

Anyone have any experience with a "natural" bard?!Súil Dubhhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14492240883664795022noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1724254580047847936.post-74832698778667317642018-06-25T22:39:23.057-04:002018-06-25T22:39:23.057-04:00I really like the way classes and leveling work in...I really like the way classes and leveling work in AD&D. But I never liked the combat sequence, even when I was running 2nd Edition as a teenager. Declaring your actions before initiative? Segments of a round? a d10 roll but how bonuses were applied was a bit confusing especially if not doing individual initiative.
One thing I love about OSR is so many great house ruled combat systems that I wished I had known when I was running games all those years ago.Jon Mayohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08800818795207393909noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1724254580047847936.post-72803251645602921892018-06-25T19:44:41.710-04:002018-06-25T19:44:41.710-04:00Being that June was the 40th anniversary of its re...Being that June was the 40th anniversary of its release I'm glad someone is breaking it out.Toerag77https://www.blogger.com/profile/16536202074686715083noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1724254580047847936.post-9181724308713826152018-06-25T15:56:18.626-04:002018-06-25T15:56:18.626-04:00Rangers and Paladins are powerful but it seems peo...Rangers and Paladins are powerful but it seems people always forget (or handwave) the ability score minimums for these classes.Shadow Demonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08009127958568902852noreply@blogger.com
