In Case of Emergency, Break Glass - Wield the Ban Hammer (Rant)

I really pride myself, that, with the exception of a few self identified YDIS trolls, I've yet to ban anyone from The Tavern.

I expect the occasional thread to get heated, and so long as at the end of the day no one is making death threats to others, I'm generally satisfied. I don't take disagreements personally and I expect the community here at The Tavern to call me on my shit on occasion.

Yeah, that sets the bar fairly high to get banned.

However, I've gotten to the point where the negative and generally trollish behavior of a single commenter has gotten me to the point where, if this were a true tavern, I'd have thrown him out on his ass months, if not years ago. Thrown out never to return.

Consider this fair warning. There will not be another. There will be no appeal. You'll need to find some other place to be an endless source of negativity and general miserableness.

This isn't because someone disagrees with me or the community at large. It's because they are being disruptive for the sake of being disruptive and they enjoy the attention that it gets them. I'm done with it. Regular commenter or not, my patience is done.

For the rest of you - carry on. Nothing to see here ;)

    1. One person. One person is a constant dick for the sake of getting attention (or I may be wrong, they just may be a miserable c... In either case, repeat performance gets them banned)

O, and it's not you or Tim ;P

  2. Google tells me YDIS = "Yamaha Dual Intake System." When did Yamaha enter the TRPG hobby and how does this compare to d20?

  3. "Your Dungeon is Suck", huh? I'd never heard of that until just now. I thought "I gotta get caught up with this teen lingo." And then I discovered it's a blog. I read a little of it. And thus I closed that browser tab forever.

    1. Thanks for clarifying. The best I could come up with "Your Dick Is Small." It seemed like something a troll would say because it's a childish insult that adds nothing to a conversation.

    4. Hell, I read YDIS on occasion. But there as some destructive individuals who post there that I did not need infecting The Tavern.

The person on the cusp of being banned would not do well on YDIS

    5. I have to admit (somewhat ashamedly) to rather enjoying YDIS. For me though, the secret is to never read the comments... :-)

  6. Obviously the bad attitude one is a certain Dyson Logos, who if he isn't shilling his Patreon page is thread-crapping any attempt at levity in the OSR.

    2. Yeah, even on the most bland non-controversial topic, he always has some snide remark.

That kind of attention whoring is so silly, especially on the internet where the only people who care about our opinions are basically our own selves.
