Mutant Crawl Classics is Part of Free RPG Day - Kickstarter Around the Corner

Five Different Covers ?!?
This year's Goodman Games Free RPG Day release has a DCC RPG Lankhmar Adventure and the very first Mutant Crawl Classics Adventure with quickstart.

Oh, and it comes in five different covers.

Whle the Lankhmar stuff is really cool, it's the Mutant Crawl Classics that has me excited. I've listened to +Jim Wampler talk about it on various podcasts an it's something I'm really looking forward to snagging a copy of the free releases and the impending Kickstarter.

How impending is the Mutant Crawl Classics Kickstarter? I don't know and Jim isn't telling, but I'm damn close to giving him my cell phone number to speed dial when it goes live, both so I can back it early and let my readers know ASAP.

In any case, time for a one hour trip to see if I can snag a copy of today's release...

  1. I guess I'd be delighted if I could get any of that Free RPG Day stuff.

  2. When I saw that cover earlier today, my brain automatically processed "Mutant" as "Dungeon," so I didn't even realize this was a preview of Goodman's post-apocalyptic extravaganza. I agree, there's a lot of promise in that game!

  3. Most of the products are of great quality, but the MCC entry is of the highest. The five covers are amazing. I got to take my pick and it took me awhile to choose after laying them all out. They were that good. My boy and me decided the warlock looked the best.

The inside art looks great after the quick look I've been able to give it. I haven't had a chance to read it, but there appears to be two short adventures.

I'm not seeing anything that strikes me as "post-apocalyptic" or "mutant". It still seems very much like DCC, but like I said I haven't had a chance to read it.

All in all, this is one hell of a promo for a future KS.

  4. One of the GMs that I got to spend time with for today's Free RPG Day writes for Goodman, so he had a copy of the MCC Playtest games.

I held the thing in my hand, and I glanced at a couple pages with his permission. After that, and overhearing the session he ran (I was in a classic D&D thieves game), I am very excited about this.

  5. After having chance to spend some time with book, I see where I was mistaken. There are two short adventures; one for DCC and one for MCC. They didn't put much art in the MCC adventure (probably saving it for the release) and that was what I was basing my opinion on after the first glance.

Still, both adventures look interesting; I look forward to giving them more time.

From a blurb on the back: "This DCC RPG product contains two complete adventures that preview our upcoming settings for Fritz Leiber's Lankhmar and Mutant Crawl Classics."
