MOST of my players have ranged from "That's neat.", "Don't care, here to kill orcs." and "How dare you shove your thinly veiled religious views down our throats!" (thankfully that last one was a one-off event.)

My favorite ritual is one started by a player who built a sort of oracle/priest when the world was being run in Runequest, funerary rites that involve the destruction of small icons representing the other party members. It's not just up to the GM to do it. But, sadly, I often forget to add it when I'm juggling all the tasks as a GM.Houndinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03087920822926950548noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1724254580047847936.post-18693674499585703712016-08-30T15:16:05.258-04:002016-08-30T15:16:05.258-04:00Do you just mean in RPGs, or are you referring to ...Do you just mean in RPGs, or are you referring to the human race in general?Jonathan Linnemanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04711517194240426383noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1724254580047847936.post-55419391321678216222016-08-30T15:08:42.809-04:002016-08-30T15:08:42.809-04:00I hate to sound like Jack Chick but getting this i...I hate to sound like Jack Chick but getting this involved in made-up religions borders on the unhealthy, to my mind.Curratumhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01096713860194686438noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1724254580047847936.post-3297241986710941942016-08-30T15:04:39.749-04:002016-08-30T15:04:39.749-04:00I "end up" playing the Cleric (tbh I lik...I "end up" playing the Cleric (tbh I like to play clerics) a lot. This can allow GM direction for the party to some degree without overt railroading.jvineshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05108835731517840359noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1724254580047847936.post-56144239794811771432016-08-30T14:47:24.624-04:002016-08-30T14:47:24.624-04:00I always have used ritual ceremonies as an off sce...I always have used ritual ceremonies as an off scene event Ulairihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06607463247068182810noreply@blogger.com
