Free RPG Day is This Saturday - What Are You Looking to Snag?

So, Free RPG Day is right around the corner. Actually, it's this Saturday, June 17th. I plan to run a game of Swords & Wizardry Light at Legendary Realms in Plainview NY. I should have enough copies of the rules to cover a full table. It will be a short session, about 3 hours. Guessing kick of at 1230 or so - I'll know more after tonight's game.

Now, what freebies are you looking to score?

For me, I'm interested in the RuneQuest Quickstart, the DCC Quickstart and the LotFP release (even if I have no clue what its about). If I had to choose only one, I'd go with the DCC pick - I'm interested in seeing how +Jim Wampler trimmed and cut the DCC rules ;)

What are you looking to snag?

  1. You humble me, sir. I would be remiss if I didn't point out that the DCC Starter rules include a brand new Michael Curtis level-1 adventure — "Gnole House", so it's win-win.

  2. I'm excited about the DCC pick, because I got to be a playtester for Michael Curtis's adventure, The Gnole House. Always fun to get books with my name in them. I'll probably grab LotFP and Conan. Maybe RuneQuest, too, if I can get 4.

  3. Starfinder is my first target, then DCC.

  4. Most interested in Syrinscape, Starfinder, and DCC in that order. Paizo usually releases the PDF for free and usually have other copies around for sale for $5 eventually down the road (at least they did for the previous Pathfinder offerings).

I already supported the LotFP offering. Wish more publishers would have an option like this, so the actual product stays for new people to see it instead of existing customers snagging them to add to their collection. Win/win in my book.

    1. I agree with your 2nd paragraph. If the day is supposed to be about bringing new players to the fold, then giving out freebies that current players want kind of conflicts with that.

  5. DCC, VAM, and Conan if I can.

  6. So. You can just get done stuff without playing? I want to participate, somehow

  7. I'm running the Runequest Quackstart at my FLGS, so that, Numenera, the Pelgrane Press two-fer and the Vagina Are Magic are on my list.

  8. I was looking forward to this but when I got to the only local store that was participating I hit a snag. In order to get your RPG Free Day goody you needed to register and then participate in an in/store game demo; only after completing the game - and they were a little vague on whether or not there was an entry fee for the game / would you receive your "free swag." Unfortunately I didn't have three hours to spend on gaming this afternoon, so I was unable to get anything this year. Crap, and some of those items looked very interesting!
