Ken Whitman - KotDT: LAS is DONE! But Ken Wants to Get Paid - Again!

Yep, according to Ken, Knights of the Dinner table: Live Action Series is ready to go out to backers and has been for the past month. He's just holding out to shake a third party down for money for distribution rights.

From what I understand, Marc Miller does NOT have a deal with Kenzer to distribute KotDT: LAS nor does Ken have distribution rights that he can sell - those belong to Kenzer.

But hey, all's fair while trying to shake down a mark for a few thousand bucks.

(I was given the following screenshot from a reliable and known source)

Ah Ken. You can't stop scamming, can you? I thought the hard drive crashed and all was lost. Then you needed someone to buy you a hard drive for $500. Now it's all done and has been for a month at least? You can't even keep your lies straight.

I may need to devote some time to do it for you. You know, collate your lies from the last 18 months or so. That way you'll be able to keep them straight. Oh, and of course they'd be posted, will links and citations, just so there would be no misunderstanding or accusations of anyone putting words in your mouth, as you do such a fine job of it on your own.

  1. Obviously Ken isn't done, but that's no reason for him to not try to squeeze some money out of a potential mark. Confidence men are taught to monetize any potential contact.

  2. Hmmm... "Luke" would appear to be Luke Heller, listed on the KotDT:LAS IMDB page (which seems to have undergone an update, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4062384/?ref_=ttfc_fc_tt ). He is also Exec Producer on Spinward Traveller. I'm going to guess this was one of the "secret backers" that Ken mentioned in a previous exchange. It seems that both the KotDT:LAS and Spinward Traveller IMDB pages have been updated with new information as far as who is getting credit for what. There are now credits for Music, Art, Cinematography and other film-type jobs. (Spinward Traveller sure has a lot of "Script Supervisors".. too many cooks in the kitchen?) Ahh, well, and so it goes...

    1. We were there to attempt to keep the script in-line with Traveller "canon" - that is, to make sure there were no SW or ST-like references - and to ensure it was all in Traveller "language", I guess. We paid a higher Kickstarter level for the privilege. I know I reviewed at least 5 or 6 versions of the script, and I'm still hoping some of my contributions will see the light of day.

  5. Just as an afterthought, I checked Alexandra Whitman's newly minted IMDB page. It lists Brothers Barbarian and Spinward Traveller, but absolutely *no mention* of Girl Downtown. Normally, even projects that aren't done yet are listed on IMDB ("Post Production" and such). Yet, not a word.

    1. Yes, or at least he claims it is. There have been no known instances of him answering it or returning calls.

    2. He is probably only answering local actors numbers in Atlanta as that number is listed has his contact point for Directors gigs there.

    3. That is the phone number he's been posting for a few years on kicstarter and elsewhere bragging how easy it is to find him. But yeah - he never answers it.

    4. Someone set up an Atlanta number on Google Voice and call him.

  8. It is that time of the year when we go on vacation. Maybe he needs a break from all the editing

  10. "Done" in the same way that the Pencil Dice were "in full production".

    Yeah, pull the other one.

  12. ...and from what I've heard "profited" off of KoDT:LAS means that he was given extra money when paid back. Not sure if that was part of the deal or not, but looking at this exchange I'd wager it was a calculated move so Kenny could try to dip into the same well again.

  14. I didn't profit. I gave Ken a personal loan somewhere between $7-$8K (I don't remember the exact amount right now as it was a couple years ago). We had a signed contract that he would pay me back August 1st (IIRC) of the same year the Kickstarter ended.

August came and went and I never saw any amount paid back to me. At the KODT: LAS shoot Ken gave me 2 checks covering the contractual personal loan. I deposited them into my bank account and they immediately bounced. I was hit with two bounced check fees by my bank.

He and I eventually came to an accord that he would pay me back $500 a week until I was paid back in full. Not surprisingly now, that lasted one week when the money stopped coming or was severely under what it should have been. When December came of that same year he was whining about not having money for groceries and Christmas presents for his kids and girlfriend. I told him it was cool and he could wait until February to resume paying me back.

I got on his case again because February came and he again didn't pay me back. I don't know when the Pencil Dice Kickstarter ended but he told me I would be getting paid in full with that money. About a week or so after it funded he used the Pencil Dice Kickstarter money to pay me in full.

When I spoke to Jolly a few weeks later about everything going wrong thanks to Ken's shadiness I was flabbergasted to find out he went on a cruise during Christmas when he told me he had no money to pay me back.

  15. Oops! I forgot to mention when he paid me in full with the Pencil Dice money he gave me an extra $1K to cover interest charges he thought I had been accruing from his failure to fulfill his end of our contract. B

  16. Hey the actors and my wife got that "I'll pay you lie but christmas is coming up and I'm so poor" line from Ken. A few days weeks later - surprise. Ken's girlfriend is posting pics of the two of them with umbrella drinks on the beach and on some cruise. lol. He was smart enough nt to post pics of it on FB - but apparently she didn't get the memo. Don't get me wrong. His life. Quite possibly his money. But don't tell people you can't make your rent and you are eating crackers a peanut butter (which is exactly what he told us) and then pop up on a cruise.

    Dumb.
