Kickstarter - Open World RPG "like" Star Wars Game (What Could Go Wrong?)

Anyone want to make bets on how the Open World RPG "like" Star Wars Game Kickstarter is going to be up before the C&D?

Now, this is always a basic thing to me - if you are going to ask folks for money, (in this case looking to raise $200k) how about capitalizing proper names like "obi jim Kemobi." (who the fuck is obi jim anyhow?) Maybe be consistent with "Star Wars" and "star wars."

Best part?  The guy who wants your money has written "a story in the star wars universe that will fit inside an RPG video game that I have not created." Yep, no game, no art, just a story and we don't even know the plot.

Still, it's only $200k, right? Because $200k can give you a video game with the art level of Witcher 3. Right?

Gotta love the Risks and Challenges

Basically the whole project? It's a challenge...

(P.S. star wars should be Star Wars you nitwit!)

  1. SOMEONE didn't read the Terms and Conditions before launching their Kickstarter. How the hell did KS approve this?

    1. You'd figure their algorithm would at least pick up, "I do not have permission".

  2. And yet, he's raised 18,000 in pledges. I give up...

    1. Yeah, the idea that he's already raised $18,000 makes me sick. Seriously, WTF?!?

    2. That's how to avoid copyrights! Change some names! Obi Jim, Larry SkyWaker, Duchess Laura, Dan Duo, Dark Nadir. Good thinking, dude!

  5. I emailed this guy a few days ago to explain copyright and EA's exclusive gaming license that's good until 2023. Also gave him a list of successful Star Wars rpgs that he was apparently unaware of. He replied like he understood, then changed his campaign description to be even more nonsensical, and changed the game plot to be the same as one of the games I had listed for him, Knights of the Old Republic.

I'm almost positive it's an attempt at trolling, or a social experiment of some sort. No way is anyone this dumb.

    1. You got his email? I would let him (and anyone else) make free use of my space industries board game turning it into a computer RPG...Just to give them something to work on.

  6. Wow. His pitch basically translates to: "Not only do I not have the IP holder's permission for this project, I also have none of the skills needed to pull it off. But please send me money because I have a childhood dream just like everybody else in the world."

  7. Maybe he's from a parallel universe...

  8. Guys... this is a potato salad kickstarter.
    (Or a Whitman project)
    Is a joke ks

  9. Just gave my $1.00. This is almost as entertaining as Arthus Soulgazer (or whatever his name is). I took 50 Shades of Vorpal somewhat seriously, this project is backed just to see the legal hijinx ensue.

  10. Well, he has killed the KS with a speech about how sad/depressing it is that people were talking about turning him in and were cr**ping on his dream. He says he didn't get any C&D, just decided not to keep going.

  11. Should have at least made it Obi GYN Kemobi
