Cutting Back on Backing Kickstarters

I knew it was going to come to this at some point. As much as I'm a Kickstarter addict, something had to give, and it just did. I was already easing up on the pedal what with the new car purchase in December, but with recent emergency vet bills, helping our son buy his first (used) car and restarting of renovations at the house, cash is going to be tight. Besides, I have enough pending Kickstarters to fuel my gaming habits for a lifetime - at least, that's what my wife recently told me, and she certainly isnt wrong.

So, I'm limiting myself to Old School / OSR styled projects. So, Barrowmaze Complete is in - Ares Magazine is out. I'm looking over a draft copy of a forthcoming OSR Kickstarter, so that will probably be in, while Storyscape will probably be out (actually, probably won't fund).

Ah well, less new projects to piss me off ;)

As an aside, if any know of reputable breeders of Miniature Dachshunds in the NYC Metro Area, let me know. My wife has a broken heart with the passing of our dauchshund Chloe, and I'm looking to help mend it :)

  2. Sorry that I don't know of any. We always go pound puppy/rescue pups. And again, sorry to hear how things went down for Chloe. I still remember when our little Peanut passed a few years back and even today, I still miss that little shit.

    1. The support I've gotten, via the blog, G+, emails, direct messages and the like has been nothing short of amazing. Rachel has had be read her each and every kind thought sent our way, and it helps.

Our cat Ashley is an ASPCA kitten.Well, at nearly 7, no longer a kitten, but you know what I mean ;)

    2. This is the amazing wonderful part about blogging. Just that support and come together and sharing stuff. I love it. I love it all.

We still call our dogs pups. And they are both nearly three now.

    3. PS: I laughed out loud when you said that Tim was practically Canadian.

  3. I know of breeders out here in the southwest but that won't help you much. Lost a long time cat who had been with me since my Seattle days recently for no good reason; still investigating that our complex used pesticides harmful to animals. It's tough losing a pet, so I wish you luck. As for KS.....I've decided I don't back a new one until the old one finishes. Seems to work well. That old one is Deluxe T&T and it's been chugging along late for about five months now.

They're such sweet dogs. Terribly sorry about Chloe. My condolences to you and your family.

  5. It's been tough for me to get behind anything. I'm still gun shy. That and Ivy will kick my ass.

  6. You could hold a Kickstarter to finance your backing of Kickstarters.

True, you won't be offering anything, but there won't be any broken promises, disingenuous updates, and you'll probably meet your deadlines. In other words, no cause for complaint.

  7. Eagerly checking to see if Mike Nystul is running another OSR oriented kickstarter....!
