Kickstarting a Free MicroGame -vs. Pirates Tabletop Micro Roleplaying Game by Phil Reed

Is this the same Phil Reed that had a daily email of RPG ideas and such a few years back? No idea, and I may be mis-remembering.

Actually, you are NOT kickstarting a free microgame, you are kickstarting the next game in a series of microgames - or something. vs. Pirates is it's name, Oh!

4 days left and I'm not sure it's going to hit goal. Not for lack of backers (53 at the moment) but the average per backer is only around 13 bucks each. $678 out of a $1500 goal.

This project doesn't need to work about stretch goals, it's needs are more basic. It needs to fund.

I'll watch this down to the wire...

  1. I wonder how much the typo in the second sentence is putting people off... I mean, you're going to write rules, but can't write sentences -- and at the top of your pitch for my money?

    1. Yeah, that was an annoying typo and I have no idea how it slipped through. Multiple people helped me review the text and somehow all of us kept reading right past that.

  2. He's also the Chief Operating Officer and Managing Editor for Steve Jackson Games.

  3. Well, I don't think people are going to pledge a lot of money for what apparently will be a 6 page RPG. (Update 2 says it will be like the Outlaws one)

I don't understand why this has to be kickstarted. Stock art, 6 pages...

    1. Jeremy, it's a time thing. I'm extremely busy and would have fun creating this, but if there isn't enough interest then I need to direct my time to other projects. The office keeps me very busy and there are only so many hours in the day.

And you are correct, this would be very small. Very, very small. But that's part of the challenge.

  4. Erik, thanks for promoting this for me! And yes, as others have mentioned I'm the same Phil Reed. In 2007 I went back to work for Steve Jackson Games and that eats almost all of my time.
